Yes it's almost funny when people have found me off-putting. Many years ago hard to remember now I was in a Seattle bookstore and an older woman was acting strangely so I finally said something like, 'do I bother you? and she said back loudly 'there's a word for it, but it's not bother." it all bummed me out.
