I cannot believe how rude people can be on here. Having told someone that my mother had passed away, she then thought it was funny to call me a robot and find my mother. Absolutely shocking
I’m sorry that happened, people have said some really vile things to me on here. I’ve been told that my parents are better off dead so they no longer have to see me, I’ve been told my mum should have had an abortion, I’ve been told I should kill myself. This site can be fun and supportive, but it can also be brutal and toxic
@SW-User So true. I'm sorry you dealt with this, and I'm unsure as to why some people want to laugh at everything, but this to me.... is a good share of you, and I feel the parent author (op) appreciated.
A lot of courtesy and common civility seems to have fallen by the wayside. Much of it has to do with the way kids are raised now, never being told no, no winners and losers. Much of what we were taught as children prior to these newer Generations was enforced by fear and corporal punishment, "God will punish you for cursing", "wait till your Father gets home" and those things had to change but perhaps we have gone too far and become too permissive now as there never seems to be any consequences for transgressions so what incentive do they have to be courteous or even kind?
@helenS Fair point and youth have always rebelled against their elders but it's only since the 1970's where there have been almost no consequences for bad behaviour for them. This more than anything has led to a loss of common courtesy, not only in the young but the older ones who were raised in these more permissive times with little to no consequences for behaving poorly towards others.
@spjennifer I think it’s more to do with this new discourse pushed by the very people who claim to want to protect people’s feelings. You don’t have to treat anyone else with any decency anymore because anyone you dislike is instantly a ‘troll’ and so it’s okay to mistreat them.
@pianoplayingsteve Some of it is that but this decline in courtesy and civility towards others didn't just start to happen recently, it's been in decline since the 1960's, since they banned corporal punishment in schools and since many more families where both parents are working and the kids are being raised by daycare and television happened.
I am very sorry for your loss, it's with so much sadness when a parent passes away. 😕 Please forgive me, but I do not understand why she called you a robot. What sort of comment is that? Was it meant as some sort of joke??
I think some users are a bit... off. Not an excuse though. Take SW with a grain of salt. Theres a lot of unstable people here but good people too. My condolences.
You have my condolences. A loss of a parent is hard on anyone unless they hate their parent. A possible explanation, you don't need, as you lost someone you loved, so my heartfelt condolences the same.
I'm terribly sorry... just try to focus upon the grief you really are feeling, they don't know. If it means anything to you, my ex partner ran out from my father's funeral from seeing my ex, a long time ago. Don't focus on the stupidity, insensitivity, of others when you are hurting.
It is so hard to understand why anyone should be so cruel; but like those who hurl foul obscenities and even death-threats around the so-called "social"-media for no purpose, they are merely cheap little cowards.
{@royrogers] 😞sorry for your loss you have my deepest condolences . some people are so incredible how insensitive they can be . it is though there brain and mouth are out of co-ordination somewhere
That's unfortunate and my condolences on losing your mother. I learned long ago... never take anything or anyone seriously on any anonymous chat forum. Life goes much easier that way.
I'm outrageous that you're shocked at someone rude shocking behavior.or is it outrageous shocking behavior, no it was shocking and I'm outraged at their shocking
@ExperienceDLT It's not the internet. The people in my village are just the same. Just the same. Most are beautiful people – but some are real fuckoffers.
@Royrogers I don’t if they’re rude. I’ll give them what they deserve. If they’re nice they get nice back that’s life you give and receive exactly what you put out like hard work you work hard you get rewarded.
