The media and twitter has been talking about all the different pronouns people call themselves. Just wondering, what is everyone's opinions on them?

For every one time i see anyone talking about their pronouns, I see at least 20 people griping about pronouns. Whether it's 'omg, i can't keep up!!!' or 'I just think it's dumb and won't support it!!!!' or 'they're forcing it on us!!!!' or the one-joke 'my pronouns are attack/helicopter!!!!!!!'

Use 'em or don't, it's your choice really

@SarahAndSamantha If you know someone like that, they do force it on you and make it a social no no, if you call them a girl (when they are a girl)

@DiliMarky oh, and the friends thing. I barely know ya, so friends is a bit quick, but you've done nothing to prevent me from being your friend, yes, even though we seem to disagree on this subject, so we'll see how things progress.

@SarahAndSamantha I'm puzzled: When would you use their 'preferred' pronoun while speaking to someone? Just saying 'you' would be normal. Do you have an example from ordinary conversataion where you would address someone using another pronoun?
SarahAndSamantha · 51-55, T
@ffony y'know, for the most part, that's kinda the point. talking directly to someone, we pretty much never refer to them by he, she, they, any of that stuff. It's when talking about them that we do. that can be done in their presence, so it can directly affect them, but for the most part it's when they're not around.

this is why I don't see why people feel the need to not use a person's preferred pronouns, at least in their presence. For the most part, you don't even need to worry about it.

As for an example in ordinary conversation. I'm talking to Becky and Frank. Becky says "blah blah blah, blahbbity blah blah blah." I turn to Frank and say "Did you understand a single thing she just said?"
