Or are you trying to create a new narrative of who you are, and how you fit into the world around you?

Had a work party last night, for someone who was my boss for many years was leaving. There was lots of really expensive wine and food and a few people (other managers) were giving stories. I hadnt planned on saying anything, but i decided to stand up and tell a personal story to 60-70 people. About the guy leaving the company, and how he changed my life for the better. I cant really remember doing this kind of thing before, and im only writing this because im trying to keep being more socially courageous in publc, and see it as a good thing, not just something *i dont do*. Which is the narrative i always tell myself. Also. I didnt drink anything and that was really hard.

Photo just of a nice sunrise recently because its pretty 🌅

Good for you.... I still cringe at public speaking.
But facing your fears is a huge step forward.
Change is good though.... otherwise you start to stagnate.
Coppercoil · M
@Lilymoon thank you.. ive been in a state of personal growth stagnation for many years now.. i am really trying to see if there is another possibility as a way of life for me.

I bet the guy leaving appreciated hearing you speak up. We tend to leave lasting impressions on the people we meet, even when we don’t realize we’re doing so.

I’ve decided for the first time in my life that it’s ok for me to be unattached. It’s a bit scary and completely new to me, but I understand now that I have to learn to love myself before I can attempt to share my love with someone else again.
Coppercoil · M
@BananaBrown its so easy for people to say this.. the love themselves more.. but its so hard to actually try to be better to ourselves. Im glad you are though! Its something im also trying to do. Really takes a lot of hard conversations and honesty within ourselves.

That sounds nice.
All my 'out of character' experiences tend to be on a very small/ personal level and in hindsight never feel significant.

@Coppercoil I've been thinking about what you said - road to recovery will be too long. And to that, I want to say - it doesn't matter how long that road is. You just focus on the present day and as far as the next day, and in those do your best.
Coppercoil · M
@SW-User that's what i need to keep close.. its so hard.. but the idea of starts and beginings, origins and ends, past and future, memories and expectations, these things consume us, but they arent reality, they arent were our lives are lived. Our lives only exist in the inbetween. Along the road to wherever we think we are going. Thank you for bringing that up.

@Coppercoil it was a good reminder for myself too.
That's awesome, yes I am trying to push myself out of my comfort zone and be more social
Coppercoil · M
@SlippingAway thats great! Its hard but i think repetition build comfort and familiarity and each time becomes a bit easier.
