Do you have a different perception or idea of a geek and a nerd? What do they look like in your head?

Would you say you're one?

Honestly, at times I use either to describe myself and I mean it in a positive way. But apparently some dictionary defines a nerd as unstylish and socially inept. Now, I think that's overkill. I'm neither and I know it.

But I say nerd in the sense that I am knowledgeable on some stuff and I like studying some stuff, and I say geek in the sense that I become very enthusiastic when certain topics are discussed.

I think being a nerd makes you part of a group...it's like a fraternity....Geek is more indivual.

Nerds tend to be academic, geeks are more fandom or culturally oriented.

At least that is how I've deciphered it. I'm kinda both.

@ViciDraco lol I did it the opposite.

To me a geek has traits of nerd but is more on the knowledge, learning, academic side.
A nerd to me has traits of geek but with a greater emphasis on video games, comics, movies and other nerd culture trops.

As a bonus a dork to me has traits of both of those but also have social awkwardness.
