Do you ever pretend to be busy on your phone, so nobody starts a conversation with you?

Yeah once in chemo. There was a woman who wouldn’t shut up and my chemo session was over 4 hours long. After more than 2 hours of nonstop talking she got up and used the bathroom and then I looked at my phone for when she came back. I think she got the hint. I learned her whole life story and present situation in excruciating details in that 2 + hours of nonstop talking. I was getting a headache from it in fact while having chemo pumped into me and getting drowsy.

What was funny was it was the grandson’s first time to take me to the cancer center and sit with me the entire time. I had just remarked “You will meet all kind of characters in this place”. Within a minute she walked in and started up. I just looked at him and smiled. He understood what I meant.

Nah. I don't mind other people in general.

YES. Everytime i go to the lobby of my building. I live in a building full of elderly people and they try to strike up convos with me. Some of them are insane, loud or drunk(occasionally being creepy as well) i currently have a bearded lady admirer... who keeps trying to touch me every time she sees me and doesn't understand personal space in the slightest. 😒

Not my phone, but when the teacher or a stand-up comic is looking for an audience volunteer I've taken out a tissue and am blowing my nose when they look in my direction.

Only when your mom calls. I don't care what she says. You are not my kid!

I don't need to, just give 'em my classic glazed look and they won't wanna talk!!

Not typically an issue. I live alone, I'm a big guy with a deep voice and don't make a lot of eye contact or other things that would invite being approached if I'm not looking for that.

I'm not approachable so no worries there

If my friends saw me doing that, they would think I had lost my mind. I rarely look at my phone.
