People over 70, do you find it cringe when they make movies or shows about the 1940s or 50s?

I cringe when I see stranger things they’re trying to imitate the 80s but it’s not right at all. It’s depressing.. the 80s were the opposite of that.

I am constantly aware that the language which is used in so-called recreations of the 50s and 60s in particular when I was a small child is too contemporary. A nother thing is to see these decades as in some kind of hermetically sealed time capsule, whereas actually things elided into new things rather than suddenly stopped and started with something new.

Of course the other thing is each of us have our own memories of what it was like which may be different from the people who are producing the drama.

I say the same thing when i see texas portrayed on tv they act like we all only wear spurs and cowboy hats. I find it hilarious when they try to copy our accents.

The biggest cringe ever was 'Grease'.

@supersnipe I’ll co-sign that. I felt the same about the Elvis movie from a couple of years ago. I’ll never understand why they opted for modern music in some of those scenes with such a rich catalog of music from that era to choose from.
