Why do so so many people shy away at the idea of kinks and BDSM?

Is it not healthy to explore your preferences? Or seek an outlet for trauma?

I don't really judge others for it, but it isn't so much for me. I am plenty sexual but I am not really into kink. I think people should be free to explore within the realms of consent though.
