I ain't been measured on the IQ scale, nor am I overly interested in what checks in boxes might convey about my perceived level of intelligence.Fireman Mike said once that I was 'smarter than the average bear' and that guy is a hero to many and teller of truths,so therefore I'm not one to doubt his wisdom.
My years at an exclusive experimental college led to the realization that I could save my parents a bundle of money and still pursue my interests in higher education by dropping out and being a pretend student, with the extra bonus of a master key that Natty Nat gave me which permitted all hours access to the library, radio station and design center. I was to further my research at several other university campuses as a prospective student, occasional volunteer, class auditor, and bullshit artiste on the art opening wine and cheese circuit- just without keys to the joint.
I am curious about common sense.I can build you a house from the ground up,make an excellent meal, discuss the minutiae of any period of Jamaican music at great length, design the sound for your next theatrical production- yet still struggle with basic math and many of the givens of what constitutes being a successful or productive member of society.Akin to a 'caveman in a rocketship' to quote one noted and misunderstood 20th century visionary.
Intelligence is variable and subjective.Experience and humility are greater teachers than any book, guru or established institution in my opinion.
