I don’t think some know how to embrace being happy…they don’t trust it to the point it brings up emotions that they have no experience dealing with. Because of that they retreat to a place of comfort, which unfortunately can be the place of despair that’s been a home for them.

@acupaday Well said. Some people have been marinating in their brand of unhappiness for so long that it comes to feel like their entire identity. So to step away from it would feel at a minimum uncomfortable all the way up to terrifying and inconceivable.
