I’m beginning to realize my 9th grade science teacher was an idiot 😂

He was once said there are more people alive today than ever lived in history.
Wrong…well over 11x the current number have died in the history of our species, and less than half the current population were around when he said that.

He once said that one billion seconds ago, Jesus was still walking the earth.
One billion seconds is about 31.7 years.

He once explained how dangerous dry ice in alcohol in a sealed bottle could be, and then took the class outside to see it in action.
The resulting pressure explosion caused minor injuries to himself and three other students.

He once left a laser pointed at a paper towel roll turned on overnight,, and excitedly showed us where it burned through 5 layers by morning.
I still wonder if he ever consider he could have burned the school down.

He once filled a balloon with hydrogen and demonstrated its potential power by holding a lighter up to it.
His eyebrows finally fully grew back a couple months later.

He once told us he had worked for the highway department picking up roadkill. I think this was a better use of his time 😂

My grade 7 to 9 Science teacher didn't have eyebrows either. (You shouldn't muck around with hydrogen) Plus the sulphuric acid he'd used to make it ate through the counter top.
And one time he was demonstrating the explosive power of something by throwing it overboard of his boat. (The school is by the sea, I still have no idea how he was allowed to do this) Well that was the end of his boat.
On a year 7 school camp. It was his idea to set the camp up where we did. Sometime round midnight the tide rose above us. And a shark raided the cook tent. We went surfing the next day and he almost got took by a shark he fought off with the knife strapped to his leg. Didn't tell us not to go back in. Went in himself and had to use the knife strap to fight the shark off again...🤦‍♂

@Thevy29 OMFG! That’s traglarious! Now I wonder if the term “a little knowledge is a dangerous thing” was coined with grade school level science teachers in mind 🤣🤣🤣

My 9th grade science teacher was in his 40s, a new teacher having been an insurance salesman. It was an old building and one afternoon everyone got their legs trembling until the floor began to shake. He stopped mid-sentence then yelled "Earthquake!" and ran out the door and out of the building, no thought for his students. He stood out there on the sidewalk all alone until he realized the joke was on him. I think that was his first and last year of teaching.
