The world is run by narcissists and egomaniacs, but the world is changed by artists and empaths. Do you agree?

Why or why not?

I agree with the former, but not the latter. While empathy definitely plays a part in the slow progress of humanity, I think that it's ultimately force that changes the world.

We didn't free the slaves because we were sentimental towards their plight, we freed them by fighting a war. America wasn't handed independence because the Declaration changed hearts and minds, we fought a war for that too.

Change is built upon corpses, not love and empathy

@TinyViolins I wasn't implying that change didn't sometimes end up resulting in bloodshed. Change is often painful. But there is no movement towards change without the visionaries who point the way towards it first... This very often happens because of empathic people like Martin Luther King/Ghandi/Jesus ...And because of artists like poets/musicians/painters/etc who influence the hearts and minds of culture. Therefore ... These are the ones who change the world. The people are always catching up to the things these kind of people are talking about and fighting for. But sure--- Force is a part of change too. It just typically doesn't begin with force.
