has anyone ever had an 'unwanted' situation like this before

a situation where you're explaining to a woman who visited you about difficult adversities, which have been put upon you, which you're trying to work through, and she suddenly starts to get emotional, like she is trying to hold back crying about it?

i was in a situation like this years back and at the time i thought ' why are you getting emotional & dramatic about it you daft cow?' and i honestly felt like giving her a 'slap'....but of course i never, instead i just responded with;

' I appreciate your concern, but I'm looking for support rather than emotional reactions right now. '

and from that, thankfully she seemed to ' get it together'....but it really was annoying that.

anyone have something similar??

The only time I have come across that has been when people are truly able to empathise, possibly because they have been through a similar situation or someone they deeply care about has.
