I wouldn’t worry about it. I look at everyone, so be an equal opportunity looker.

@SoulAsylum Oh. Well I see them as regular people. And I go out of my way to help them by opening doors and showing them kindness idk

@SW-User i try to help but i know to some it might be offensive

@SoulAsylum some disabled people still want to open their own doors and do things themselves yes . But I still offer without being overbearing

...if this is serious, you might want to say "crippled", but why do you need help just being human?
Treat them like anyone else: smile warmly say hi...
They didn't shift species, emotions, etc., by being in a wheelchair.

@SomeMichGuy i am serious. I have no social skills so i feel odd of i dont look at them and if i do i dont want them to think im staring you know.
SomeMichGuy · M
@SoulAsylum Well, just think of them as *people*. All the "-ism"-s about people really come down to this:
NOT treating others as persons in the sense which *you* expect/demand for yourSELF.
So...use the Golden Rule. Treat others how *you'd* want to be treated.
If you were in a wheelchair, would you want people to stare at YOU? Probably not. So don't.
Look at that person as much as you look at others.
Social stuff is hard.

As a disabled person in a wheelchair I’ve had it happen to me at a certain fast food place where the server thought I was with someone else. People shouldn’t assume they’re not as bright as “normal” people. For all they know they could be smarter than them.

Now your just trolling
bijouxbroussard · F
I think in terms of how I’d look at someone who isn’t disabled. I might glance and meet his or her eyes; I wouldn’t avoid that glance. And I wouldn’t stare. It’s just another human being.

Same length of time you look at anybody else i suppose .🤷♀️
Chickie · F
I look people in the eye when I am talking to them, you can't do that.

You are being silly. @SoulAsylum
SoulAsylum · 31-35, M
@Carissimi i overthink things maybe thats it idk

You are definitely overthinking this. There is enough to worry about in this world without creating unnecessary ones. @SoulAsylum
