Missing Submarine

Rescue crews searching for a submersible with five people aboard that went missing while touring the Titanic’s wreckage are keeping a nervous eye on the craft’s dwindling oxygen supply as they navigate choppy waters and low visibility in a remote area of the North Atlantic Ocean.

The Coast Guard and the Royal Canadian Air Force are deploying more aircraft and vessels to aid in the search for the 21-foot vessel, which began its descent to the bottom of the ocean on Sunday morning – and has just four days of emergency capability.

Searchers are taking the mission below sea level after scouring an area of the ocean’s surface about the size of Connecticut, US Coast Guard District 1 Rear Admiral John Mauger said Tuesday morning. “We now have underwater search capability on scene, and so we’re going to be using that to see if we can locate the submersible in the water,”

Submersible imploded at 1600 ft. Navy found parts on the ocean floor near the Titanic. Catastrophic failure. All lost.
PatKirby · M
@jackson55
I'm going out on a limb here and guessing the US Submarine Defense Network picked up the implosion but didn't say anything.
jackson55 · M
@PatKirby watching the news conference there was a report Saturday of a noise that could have been an implosion/ explosion. You could very well be right.
PatKirby · M
@jackson55

Sounds like the Navy heard the implosion on Sunday.
The US Navy revealed that they knew the Titan submersible, which was diving to see the remains of the Titanic wreck, imploded on Sunday. We have sonar detection and acoustic networks for our national defense, and this classified system picked up the moment when this craft and the five people inside it perished.*

A top secret military acoustic detection system designed to spot enemy submarines first heard what the U.S. Navy suspected was the Titan submersible implosion hours after the submersible began its voyage, officials involved in the search said...The U.S. Navy conducted an analysis of acoustic data and detected an anomaly consistent with an implosion or explosion in the general vicinity of where the Titan submersible was operating when communications were lost,” a senior U.S. Navy official told The Wall Street Journal in a statement.*
UPDATE -

Canadian aircraft detects underwater noises during search for missing submersible, US Coast Guard says:

Underwater noises were detected in the North Atlantic Ocean while U.S. and Canadian crews searched for the small vessel carrying five people that vanished two days earlier in a dive to the Titanic wreckage site, the U.S. Coast Guard announced early Wednesday.

@Budwick i saw this today in the paper. i sure hope they get to them in time. they are almost out of oxygen
Freeranger · M
From the latest report, the company which owns this submersible is a bit shady.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not gonna climb in to any tin can with a Game Boy joy stick for a controller and a water bottle for a bathroom. Of course, it was then reported as well that the hatch can only be opened from the outside.

Just a host of things in my book that demonstrate a disregard for safety. From what I've read the "experts" are giving this a positive outcome. If that submersible has gone beyond a certain depth as they're projecting, there isn't a rescue submersible built today that can rescue at those depths.
What were they thinking?
Fairydust · F
@Freeranger

I don’t believe it, just ridiculous! Distracting people, something else will be going on they don’t want you to see.
Freeranger · M
@Fairydust Hmmm.....so you see this as a miss direction for....anything in particular?
Fairydust · F
@Freeranger

Yeah that’s how the news work. Not sure yet.
4meAndyou · F
This morning there were only 50 hours of air left.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Budwick @4meAndyou Sadly it makes you wonder if this was politically motivated. If those were top Democrats I bet that sub would already be up.
4meAndyou · F
@Musicman I don't think that is an issue, dear friend. The passengers were from India, (2, a father and son), and from Pakistan, (2, also a father and son), and from England.

I would be more concerned with the Indian passengers trying to kill the Pakistani passengers, or vica versa.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@4meAndyou That isn't good. ☹️
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
Seriously??? Who would want to tour down there??? Visiting the Titanic should only be limited to researchers. Hoping those people will be found alive. But sight seeing the Titanic is like touring a gravesite.
4meAndyou · F
@Barefooter25 "British billionaire explorer Hamish Harding, renowned French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet and Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son Suleman Dawood are on the OceanGate Expeditions’ submersible, Titan."

Hamish Harding is an extremely wealthy British world explorer. He also paid to go up in Elon Musk's rocket ship.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Barefooter25 I would love to go down there and see it live. 🙂
DavidSBianchet · 51-55, M
it's weird how much attention this is getting over all the innocent men, women and children in Ukraine?
Budwick · 70-79, M
@DavidSBianchet I don't know about you, but I can think about more than one thing at a time.
DavidSBianchet · 51-55, M
@Budwick lol,no you can't
@DavidSBianchet but this is so personal. everyone wonders what that would be like to go down there and see the Titanic. and then this happens.
We can't possibly relate to what the children are going through in the Ukraine...unless you have been in a war somewhere else. it is too horrible to imagine either scenario
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
The report I heard on the radio was that this sub is a piece of crap. It has many problems and rarely reaches the Titanic. These people are screwed.
PatKirby · M
There was a structural problem and the damn thing likely imploded about 9000 feet down, or about 1 hour and 45 minutes into the dive. Of course I hope they're still alive, but this is the most likely reason for the sudden interruption in communication and no sign of it since. No one wants say it out loud. All the rescue melodrama is for ratings. Besides oxygen isn’t the problem, it’s the temperature. They're all icicles now.
akindheart · 61-69, F
i am just devastated over this. how very sad for these people. hope they are alive
Wow...needle in a haystack scenario. Prayers they rescue these people.
turnedtostone · 56-60, F
Hope they find them, sounds horrible.
Fairydust · F
Without sounding awful, it would not surprise me if they was just bullshit and a distraction from other things!!!

You know the way they work. 👀
Fairydust · F
@BizSuitStacy [image deleted]
@Fairydust all the roads of evil always seem to lead to the Rothschild's. Weird. I read that the family is worth something north of $100 trillion.
Fairydust · F
@BizSuitStacy

Yeah doesn’t add up, crooks!!
Goodluckwiththat · 56-60, M
Personally I'd wait for the next tour when you get to see the Titanic and a sub! Better deal!!
Fairydust · F
@Goodluckwiththat

I love deep… 👀

Tim Minchin deep lol 😂
Goodluckwiththat · 56-60, M
@Fairydust hmmmmmm.....
Fairydust · F
@Goodluckwiththat

Get ya mind out the gutter lol
😆

The French offered to help. They have a underwater submarine with the capabilities to latch on to the distressed sub and bring it up, but America said their help wasn't needed. 🤷‍♂️
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Musicman Fom NYT - France is sending a research vessel equipped with an exploration robot to help with the search, according to Hervé Berville, France’s junior minister in charge of maritime affairs. The Atalante, a ship operated by a French maritime research institute, was about 48 hours away from the Titanic’s site, he said in a statement.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Budwick So Bumpkin finally allowed it. About time.
val70 · 51-55
Wasn't that one of only three submarines that could dive to the Titanic? I read that somewhere
Budwick · 70-79, M
@val70 Don't know.
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
Gosh this is so sad..i hope they are able to come up. It must be so scary for them. I really hope that they are looking for them.
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
A whistle-blower who worked for Oceangate is now claiming the Titan was never structurally sound and it was never tested to see if would resist the pressures of the deep ocean. It is now being reported that a locator beacon was never installed on the submarine.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Barefooter25 that is terrible. i saw that the billionaires son was out playing around not knowing if his dad was alive or dead
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
@akindheart It seems the CEO of Oceangate was more interested in being woke than actual safety. He wasn't interested in having white middle-aged former Navy divers running his Titanic submarine project.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Barefooter25 they fore went safety to make a profit. how very sad.
I do not think it is possible to rescue them before their oxygen runs out. They have until Thursday. It is Wednesday night. The sub is tiny. There are 5 people in close quarters. They have to find them. Decompress them because of the depth they are at. Get them out of the sub safely too. I wish they could be rescued. I feel the Titanic was cursed. No one should attempt to explore it. Leave it be.
krf336 · M
If anyone needed a reminder not to climb in a metal tube and swim to the titanic.....
akindheart · 61-69, F
any update?
Budwick · 70-79, M
@akindheart Yeah - not looking good.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Budwick this is a tragedy.
@akindheart Their air has run out. A sub has reached the bottom of the water. I doubt they will teach them in time. 5 people. A tiny sub. It showed how small. The chance of rescue is infinitesimal. Reports from 10 am today. That billionaire in it with his teenahe son? All his money makes no difference now.

I must change. Likely run out. Also reports are from today that debris was found on the ocean floor. They do not know if it is from the missing submersible.
Fairydust · F
Why would anyone want to go down there 😬
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
@Fairydust I think we would all feel safer inside the Beatles yellow submarine. 💛
Fairydust · F
@Barefooter25
I might still pass on that lol 😂
@Barefooter25 that is a drug induced hallucination...so i will pass on that too
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
I pray they’re able to locate and raise the submersible in time!
Fairydust · F

Lol 😂
Goodluckwiththat · 56-60, M
@Fairydust too funny, but I have a sense of humor....lol
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Goodluckwiththat Time and place.
Fairydust · F
@Budwick
Oh come on, it’s probably bullshit, he’s part of the WEF, something fishy going on.

Using a PlayStation to control it! They are mocking us.

Huge distraction.

i'm really not hopeful 😞 i'm afraid they're lost forever and we'll never find them. omg what an awful way to die
