Plus, I think it makes a penis more aesthetically pleasing. A "dangling", flaccid penis looks so much more appealing with the head in full view, instead of completely hidden inside the foreskin !!

Originality there were religious ties. Today is mostly just parents choosing to do it to their kids because it was done to them and they are so used to it being the norm and they don't want their kid to be different.
