I think Hillary Clinton could have beaten ANY Republican except Trump. Nobody else has the chokehold on the Republican Party that he does.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@deadmoon I legitimately don't understand how he has so much sway over them. Does nobody see how absolutely batshit he is? It's crazy to me.

Waveney · M
No but Bernie Sanders would have. But the DNC stole the nomination from him. They deserved what followed.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@LordShadowfire speaking of privilege, which one of us has the word “Lord” in their user name ? Lol
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@AthrillatheHunt You have the privilege of putting it in your name as well.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@LordShadowfire the privileged Roman’s referred to my namesake as a scourge of God.
22Michelle · 70-79, T
She'd have won of the USA elected on who gets the most votes.
22Michelle · 70-79, T
@GerOttman And this was planned by the Founding Fathers??? They couldn't foresee there would be political parties. Your systems are a joke. The UK political / electoral systems desperately need bringing up to date, but they look 21st Century compared to the USA.
GerOttman · 70-79, M
@22Michelle "They couldn't foresee political parties"??

Did you just say that out loud?

The founders obsessed over it!

I know you're not from around here but a quick brush up on US history would be in order before you inject a comment like that.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@22Michelle I hate to say this, but the libertarian snapping turtle has a point. The founders were actually dead set against the formation of political parties, because they knew it would divide the country.

She couldn’t even win a blow job contest with Monica 🤣😂
Sapio · 51-55, M
I don't think she would've won.
TexChik · F
Ted proved himself not to be presidential when his team threw shade at Trump's wife during the 2016 Republican Presidential Primaries. Trump countered with a little shade of his own and the hot headed Latino proved he was not up to the task by how he handled the situation.

Cruz would be a great SCOTUS pick. He was a brilliant Harvard trained attorney who had argued before the court on several occasions. The lib's heads would explode if he were ever on the court. 🤣
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@TexChik

I haven't looked into it that carefully, but I don't think the Constitution specifies how many justices there are supposed to be on the Supreme Court. FDR suggested packing the court when he had huge majorities in both houses of Congress, but even his own party wouldn't go along with it.

At that time, Democrats evidently had far more scruples than they have now.

@TexChik

Maybe the National Guard?

But you are right, it would be a crisis.
justbob · 61-69, M
Nope. She would have lost by a bigger margin. Trump got elected the same way Biden did. His main qualification in 2016 was not being Hillary.
22Michelle · 70-79, T
@justbob She hot over 2 million votes more than Trump.
I think the Republicans rallied against Hillary... not for Trump... and they would of grown up in huge numbers for any random person running against Hillary and she would of lost still
@GerOttman There were conservative leaning people that claim they have NEVER EVER voted in their entire life (and they were old) and they were registering to vote for the first time, just to vote against Hillary...

I've never seen or heard of any other time like that... but you're right, the middle ground can swing an election...

But I've never seen such a strong movement to vote against someone before...

And Hillary probably did it to herself, pissing people off, thinking she had it all locked up... but I also don't think conservatives want to see a liberal woman running the country.

Even if they were good candidates... which IN NO WAY am I suggesting Hillary was a good candidate... those were so e absolutely horrible choices and since too...
GerOttman · 70-79, M
@sstronaut they were both horrible candidates, I voted for Johnson/Weld in '16. Just from a fundamental technical standpoint, HRC against advice, ignored states she needed to win because "the election was in the bag"...

LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@GerOttman
Hillary dropped that basket of deplorables and the undecided room emptied out fast!

Yeah, but she was right.
Midlifemale · 61-69, M
Nope. Hilary was doomed half way through her campaign
@Midlifemale She seriously fucked herself by calling half of the country deplorable
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Almost certainly. Ted Cruz has none of the inexplicable charisma Trump has.
trollslayer · 51-55, M
I don’t think so. I think in 2020 there were plenty of people who voted Trump as a rejection of the Clintons. They would have done the same with Cruz.

Hillary lost because of her lousy personality and her complete contempt for the American people...and the fact that she is incapable of HIDING her contempt.
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@4meAndyou

Queen Hilly could NEVER preempt
Her utter and thorough contempt
For the average voter,
But WAS a promoter
Of rules from which SHE was exempt.
fun4us2b · M
Probably. The real question is would Biden have beaten Trump. Wasserman derailed Biden and picked Clinton and I think that was a mistake.
TexChik · F
@fun4us2b In a fair election. No mail in balloting, no 37 days to count late ballots, complete adherence to the law...Trump in the largest landslide ever.

As they continue to unpack all that happened in 2020, I think we will see that it happened then too.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@fun4us2b A lot of people, including myself, were angry with the Democratic Party for picking Hillary over Bernie when he was clearly the people's choice. They didn't let us vote for Bernie, and Hillary felt like a forced choice. I don't know how Biden would have done at that time, but he definitely beat Trump in 2020, so maybe?
RedBaron · M
@fun4us2b Although Biden declined to run in 2016 for personal reasons.
dale74 · M
She is not well liked by people who have met her. I've meant both her and Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton is the type person you could disagree with. Every single thing, but still have a normal conversation with Hillary Clinton. If you don't see it her way, you are in her way on everything.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Yeah no question. I mean she came within a hairsbreadth of winning that election anyways and that was after running the worst campaign ever.
GoFish ·
😒 in her dreams
She shot herself in her dumb face by getting her clit holster comey to go after trump with her research opo..
Sabsetti · 31-35, F
No! She is NOT for the position!
redredred · M
I doubt it, the hag is just sooo unlikeable and has a truckload of baggage. I mean, seriously, who has 56 friends who committed suicide?

That's the Dems! They hate us!
XxBlahxX · F
I at this point. Who cares
BohoBabe · M
According to the polling, Hillary would have lost to every Republican except Trump. It sounds like that means the polling was way off, but it was actually pretty accurate. The polls said if Trump is the nominee, the election would be extremely close. The election did end up being close and the polling was only slightly off with the states in the Midwest.
So no, I think Hillary would have lost to Ted Cruz too.
DDonde · 36-40, M
Probably not
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
That deplorables comment sunk her campaign right then and there . Didn’t matter who the opponent was.
GerOttman · 70-79, M
@AthrillatheHunt Yep! All she had to do was keep her mouthshut and smile... Too much to ask ah reckon!!
RedBaron · M
There’s no way to know, and it doesn’t matter 10 years later.
Holden · 31-35, M
Considering the fact that Ted Cruz is bland as bread and has no personality, yeah probably.
