Attention Seniors

Are you exercising regularly? Some of the indicators that you are falling behind are:

1. Can you stand up from a chair without using your hands? If you can't, you have a problem.

if you cannot it means you have weak legs and you are in danger of falling. Please practice
every day. All it takes is 10 sit stands without using your hands. Add in calf raises in order
in order to strengthen your feet, ankles and calves. This will help you walk better and have
better balance.

2. Can you walk backwards 10 steps in a straight line? If not you may have cognitive problems.

3. Can you balance on one foot for 30 seconds without holding on? The more you practice
the better your balance will be.

Yes and yes I can do those, although my balance isn't the best.
And if you want to improve your brains neuroplasticity and improve memory and focus, plus a ton of other benefits, mountain bike!

Grerat post! My recommendation is simple. Pilates. Try it!! It's fastastic and addresses everything in this short list and much more. You'll gain core strength, balance, confidence and overall health improvements.

I have been struggling with #1 since I went in the hospital with pneumonia. Being too sedentary before hand. My own fault.

yes i can and yes i am working out at the gym 3 times per week and one of those days with a personal trainer

The first two are easy for me.

But thanks for the reminder that I need to do balance exercises. I came to that conclusion last year but I have been a slouch about doing anything about it.

Excellent advice. But of course I can do all of 'em - more or less, heh heh 😁
