Attention Seniors

Are you exercising regularly? Some of the indicators that you are falling behind are:

1. Can you stand up from a chair without using your hands? If you can't, you have a problem.

if you cannot it means you have weak legs and you are in danger of falling. Please practice
every day. All it takes is 10 sit stands without using your hands. Add in calf raises in order
in order to strengthen your feet, ankles and calves. This will help you walk better and have
better balance.

2. Can you walk backwards 10 steps in a straight line? If not you may have cognitive problems.

3. Can you balance on one foot for 30 seconds without holding on? The more you practice
the better your balance will be.

I have been struggling with #1 since I went in the hospital with pneumonia. Being too sedentary before hand. My own fault.

@Gibbon You can improve Gib. Start slow. Find a nice place to walk daily, even if you have to
drive to get there. Also get a block of wood and do calf raises. It will help a lot.

Practice those things every day, I guarantee it will help you. The Sit/Stand is HUGE for leg
strength.

My 73 year old sister broke her back a could years ago. Very sedentary before. I gave her some
exercises to do. She loves calf raises ( I made her a cool little calf block ) her balance has
improved a lot.

@DogMan I have all the exercises I did with the therapist. It's hard to get motivated when I get tired as soon as I start. At least I'm forcing myself out of this chair many times a day. You have no idea how much I'm pushing myself to do that. But I'm not going backwards just damn slow moving forward. It's a head thing for me.

@Gibbon Keep pushing yourself Gibbon, not too much, but if you put the work in
you will get results. Try taking some Creatine. We should all take it. It helps the mind
and the muscles. Do a little research on it. It is one of the most studied supplements.
