Brown University Shooting

The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, inside a classroom at the Barus and Holley engineering building on the eastern end of Brown University’s campus, officials said.

Two students were killed, and nine others wounded in the attack, which occurred while final exams were taking place and prompted a shelter-in-place order that kept students and faculty on campus overnight.

Ella Cook seems to have been the main target. She is a Christian Conservative that was very outspoken about being Pro-Israel.

As we know Brown University was very Pro-Hamas. We do know that the shooter yelled something before he started shooting
but the authorities are not saying what he said.

I believe if they told us what he said, it would help in finding the culprit, but what do I know?

No one is ever at fault, it's always some inanimate object that caused mayhem.
Nice strawman. What people are actually saying, and what the stats bear out, is that easy access to guns greatly increases the murder rate.

Firearms have been the leading cause of death for US children and teens since 2020, representing 19% of all deaths for children 18 years and younger in 2021.

America's gun homicides in perspective 2020

per capita gun deaths by state red vs blue

WOW! Cities in blue states tend to be safer!! Proving that gun safety laws work!!
@DogMan In other words, we have far more mass shootings than Sweden has bombings.

And how does the overall murder rate in Sweden compare to the murder rate in the US??

Sweden saw a significant drop in homicides in 2024, with
92 confirmed cases, the lowest since 2014, marking a 29-case decrease from 2023
Turns out most of those bombings are non-fatal; intended to intimidate not kill.

In the US, the murder rate is 5.0 per hundred thousand population. Converting the Swedish numbers, 92 murders in a population of 10.57 million is 0.87 per hundred thousand; almost SIX times as high!

@ElwoodBlues yes why ARE there so many murders in blue cities? That is my point.

We should ask that question instead of blaming guns.

@DogMan Gun laws are set by the state, NOT by cities. So, instead of cherry picking blue cities only, let's do the comparison by state.

He was VERY hard to understand. Investigators have asked ALL the remaining witnesses what he yelled out, but no one, so far, was able to understand him.

REALLY??? Based on what????

Are you aware that it's quite possible to have empathy for suffering in Gaza without being "Pro-Hamas"??

@DogMan Hamas committed a war crime on Oct 7 when they murdered 800 civilians, no question.

Since then,
According to data cited by the British Red Cross and other aid organizations like Save the Children and UNICEF, the number of children killed is estimated to be over 17,000 to 20,000 since October 7, 2023.

An estimated 6,000 mothers were killed as of April 2024, leaving 19,000 children orphaned.

Women and children account for approximately 70% of the fatalities where the UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) has been able to verify the casualties

In short, since Oct 7, Israel has committed war crimes in Gaza. There's no excuse for war crimes from either side. When Oct 7 happened, many of us spoke out against Hamas war crimes. Now that the IDF is committing war crimes, we speak out against that. It's actually an approach that you might call "fair and balanced."

@ElwoodBlues War is hell. They should not have started a war they couldn't win.

I feel like we have done this dance before.🤔
@DogMan I notice you didn't give Hamas the "war is hell" excuse, despite a decades ongoing war between Hamas & IDF with many Palestinian civilian deaths over the years.

"War is hell" might excuse a few accidental deaths. 70% women & children is NOT accidental. So you're saying it's OK to violate the Geneva Convention?? You're ready to bring back poison gas and slave camps for POWs??

That city and university seem to be run by incompetent DEI hires.

Yet another mass shooting. That’s almost 400 this year. You Americans never learn.
