Brown University Shooting

The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, inside a classroom at the Barus and Holley engineering building on the eastern end of Brown University’s campus, officials said.

Two students were killed, and nine others wounded in the attack, which occurred while final exams were taking place and prompted a shelter-in-place order that kept students and faculty on campus overnight.

Ella Cook seems to have been the main target. She is a Christian Conservative that was very outspoken about being Pro-Israel.

As we know Brown University was very Pro-Hamas. We do know that the shooter yelled something before he started shooting
but the authorities are not saying what he said.

I believe if they told us what he said, it would help in finding the culprit, but what do I know?

@bowman81 says
No one is ever at fault, it's always some inanimate object that caused mayhem.
Nice strawman. What people are actually saying, and what the stats bear out, is that easy access to guns greatly increases the murder rate.

Firearms have been the leading cause of death for US children and teens since 2020, representing 19% of all deaths for children 18 years and younger in 2021.

WOW! Cities in blue states tend to be safer!! Proving that gun safety laws work!!

@ElwoodBlues And WHY did shooting increase? Does anyone know? My dad bought me my first real gun when
I was 10 years old. All my friends had guns at 10. We never had an accident let alone a murder.

Guns didn't change. There are far less guns in households now than when I was a kid.
@DogMan The type of guns has changed, from hunting and sporting guns to killing machines.

This is what the Dayton shooter used to kill 9 and wound another 17 in 32 sec. Does anyone really think they can make a case for this killing machine to be in private hands?

Yeah, that's a 100 round drum magazine. There's no excuse for magazines over 10 rounds.

@ElwoodBlues A pocketful of 10 round magazines can be quickly changed! Also, check out "Revolver speed shooting" on YouTube! The record for firing 6 shots in a revolver is 1 second! Another record was set for firing 6 shots, reloading, and firing 6 more shots in 3 seconds! Lever action rifles and even double barreled shotguns can be fired surprisingly rapidly with a little practice!
@fanuc2013 Is this your way of telling us you have no objection to a ten round limit on magazines?

P.S. most people aren't that fast, and there's no point in letting the perfect be the enemy of the good.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@ElwoodBlues They had semi automatic rifles with high capacity magazines long before these nuts started shooting up schools.

Why will you never talk about WHY!!! Is this happening? Blaming guns is a COP-OUT
@DogMan Funny thing: nations with strict gun control have far fewer murders in general and far fewer school shootings. Do you think that's because those nations have much better mental health??

Why will you never talk about WHY!!!
Because it's a red herring. Saving lives is what's relevant. Gun control saves lives.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@ElwoodBlues Yes, but they have far more bombings and stabbings.
@DogMan says
Yes, but they have far more bombings and stabbings.
Do they? Can you back that up?? Becaus the murder rate data says you're wrong.

Take another look:
DogMan · 61-69, M
@ElwoodBlues Sweden has the strictest gun regulations. They also have the most bombings

This is from January. By the end of January they had 30 bombings around Sweden in different cities.

Sweden is currently facing an unprecedented wave of bomb attacks, with the country experiencing a staggering 19 bomb attacks since the beginning of 2025 alone. This alarming trend is part of a larger pattern of violence that has been escalating in recent years, transforming Sweden’s image from a peaceful nation to one grappling with serious security concerns.

Scope and Nature of the Attacks
The bombings have become so frequent that they are now an almost daily occurrence in Swedish cities. In 2024, there were 124 bomb attacks, and the trend appears to be accelerating in 2025. These attacks are not confined to a single area but have spread across the country, affecting major cities and quieter suburbs alike.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@DogMan That would be equivalent to having bombings everyday in Texas.
@DogMan In other words, we have far more mass shootings than Sweden has bombings.

And how does the overall murder rate in Sweden compare to the murder rate in the US??

Sweden saw a significant drop in homicides in 2024, with
92 confirmed cases, the lowest since 2014, marking a 29-case decrease from 2023
Turns out most of those bombings are non-fatal; intended to intimidate not kill.

In the US, the murder rate is 5.0 per hundred thousand population. Converting the Swedish numbers, 92 murders in a population of 10.57 million is 0.87 per hundred thousand; almost SIX times as high!
DogMan · 61-69, M
@ElwoodBlues yes why ARE there so many murders in blue cities? That is my point.

We should ask that question instead of blaming guns.

@DogMan Gun laws are set by the state, NOT by cities. So, instead of cherry picking blue cities only, let's do the comparison by state.
