Bill Gates changes mind on Global Warming.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, who has spent more than a decade warning that the world was on the brink of unimaginable peril due to rising global temperatures, now says climate change “will not lead to humanity’s demise” in a stunning reversal.

Gates, 70, who has sunk billions of his vast fortune into initiatives ostensibly meant to combat global warming, penned a lengthy blog post this week urging a shift away from the “doomsday outlook” many climate activists have adopted to terrify nonbelievers into seeing things their way.

Democrats were ready to bankrupt the world over global warming.

I think that you may be misreading Gate's statement. What he stated now was that he doesn't believe all life will cease because of climate change, but that many people will die from lack of food, housing will become less available, etc. It is also so that the effects of climate change will be more profound on those in the lower socio-economic levels, further produce inequity.

He came to realize that using the doomsday approach was counterproductive in trying to explain the problem.

@samueltyler2 I'm guessing that's because the least intelligent among his detractors saw that previous deadlines passed without the bad thing happening, like all the rainforests disappearing by 2000, and didn't grasp the core concept that this was because we changed our behavior in order to prevent the bad thing.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@ItsMeMorgue partly true, i wish i understood why this subject diverted into such a political mess ! The evidence is as clear as the nose on your face.
ItsMeMorgue · 46-50, F
@samueltyler2 I'll tell you exactly why it diverted into a political mess. There are billions of dollars being spent by the oil companies to push this propaganda that burning oil and coal is the best way to progress as an industrialized nation. The conspiracy is just that obvious.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@ItsMeMorgue yes, the oil Barons have the power.
gol979 · 46-50, M
@samueltyler2 maybe if he didnt use his private jet to go to epstein island 37 times this climate change narrative may hold water

@ItsMeMorgue maurice strong and al gore agree with you (how did they make their fortunes again?)

@ItsMeMorgue all the rainforests disappearing by 2000, and didn't grasp the core concept that this was because we changed our behavior in order to prevent the bad thing.

So you believe that the rain forests would have disappeared, but WE kept it from disappearing through our efforts?

You are not really that naive are you?
ItsMeMorgue · 46-50, F
@DogMan You mean am I naïve enough to understand that we stopped cutting down rainforests at the alarming rate we were doing it? That's not naïvete, that's understanding reality. Are people still cutting down rainforest? Of course. Just not at the same rate.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@gol979 get off of your hatred!
ItsMeMorgue · 46-50, F
@samueltyler2 He can't. He gets off on it.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@ItsMeMorgue Ok, this was a little misleading. saw that previous deadlines passed without the bad thing happening, like all the rainforests disappearing by 2000, and didn't grasp the core concept that this was because we changed our behavior in order to prevent the bad thing. You made it sound like people's "Behaviors" saved the rainforests. When in reality they just slowed the logging.

It had nothing to do with peoples behavior. Had they not slowed the logging in the rain forest, it would not be gone now.
let alone in 2000. That was a doomsday prediction. People do not realize how vast the rain forest in South America is.
ItsMeMorgue · 46-50, F
@DogMan
You made it sound like people's "Behaviors" saved the rainforests. When in reality they just slowed the logging.
Same thing, sweetie. Humans saved the rainforests from their own behavior.
Had they not slowed the logging in the rain forest, it would not be gone now.
Right. Considering the fact that it's still being destroyed at a rate of 10,000 acres per day, I'm sure you're absolutely positively right that it wouldn't be gone.🙄

It's still under threat today, but you just can't wrap your mind around the sheer scale of the destruction.

@ItsMeMorgue whats incorrect about what i said?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@gol979 i was going to respond to your inane comment, but decided you are beyond educable, so why bother. You want to allow the climate to continue to overheat and make life more and more difficult. That is your choice, but if everyone takes that approach, the progress we have made will reverse. Good luck,!

whats incorrect about what i said?
Oh, sweetie, where to begin?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@gol979 so call him a hypocrite for flying when he is also doing good in his travels? If that makes you happy do be it. We may see about his and other people's interaction with Epstein, but that is simply diverting your initial comments. I am not going to going back and start this chat all over again, but your comment was that he reversed his belief, i simply tried to explain that you misread his comments.

He is now saying he still believes climate change is an existential problem, but the way it was marketed didn't work. He now is pushing that the effects of image change have been and will fall, more on the less able to afford to deal with it. He points out the disproportionate effects on some parts of society. he now wants to bring greater attention to those, hoping the world will understand and alter habits to improve the lives of the less fortunate.

@samueltyler2 That's the go-to of these people when they attack anyone who is working to combat climate change. "Oh, you fly around in a plane? Climate change must not be real!"
@samueltyler2 regarding plane fights by climate activists, entertainers, etc. In this day and age it is very easy to purchase carbon offsets for your travel, and that's what these people do. Here are some reputable providers
1. Gold Standard
2. Verra - Verified Carbon Standard (VCS)
3. Climate Action Reserve
4. American Carbon Registry

You can also check out the United Nations Carbon Offset Platform.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@ElwoodBlues but, that does not decrease the carbon release! It just shifts the burden. I suppose I would have to admit, it is better than nothing.
@samueltyler2 True, but many of the offsets increase carbon uptake by planting trees.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@ElwoodBlues a worthwhile endeavor, but not nearly enough.
