Should we divide people by Oppressor & Oppressed?

Will this unite, or divide us?

When Karl Marx set out to interpret the structures of the societies of the day (the mid- to late-1800's), his philosophical system claimed that structures of a capitalist society inevitably lead to conflict between the ruling class (the bourgeoisie) and the working class (the proletariat). Eventually, the working class, as the more numerous class in society, would unite to overthrow the ruling class and establish a new system, a transition from capitalism to socialism and then from socialism to communism. For Marx, as I often say, there are only two types of people, defined by their economic status and position in a society

Don’t oppress anyone and there won’t be any need to divide by oppressor and oppressed.
JPWhoo · 36-40, M
@DogMan So what, if I’m being oppressed I’m supposed to just shut up and pretend I’m not being oppressed? How does that create a fair and just society?

But I’m glad you agree that the division of dividing us by race, religion, Gender, etc, is in fact oppression?
Well, I don’t mean that we should be blind to all those factors and treat everyone the same way. I believe in treating everyone fairly as much as possible, which is often not the same thing as treating everyone the same; however, yes, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, and where we were born should not be reasons to divide us.

@JPWhoo Please read Epicurus, and others like him, and you will understand.

Society will never be fair and just to everyone. That is impossible. It's how we react
to injustice. Sure, you want to fight against it. But if you have a strong mind, you
will never be truly oppressed.

@DogMan
Society will never be fair and just to everyone.
No, but we should still strive to be as fair and just as possible. Just because we can’t be perfect doesn’t mean we can’t be better.

You'd find a lot of overlaps.

Lessons From History: How The Oppressed Often Become The Oppressors
Human nature has patterns which repeat throughout history.

The oppressors do the dividing all on their own
DogMan · 61-69, M
@PalteseMalconFunch The left has been dividing us for years. Just the fact that we have
100+ genders now, proves it. Everyone has a little group to call their own, that is division.

The military has been divided now too. Diversity is the epitome of division. Diversity is
the opposite of unity. I was in the military in the 70's and 80's, when there was zero racism.

I saw one old major that called a black guy ( my roommate btw ) "Boy". Nate forced the
major out of his aircraft, and would not allow him to fly it. Nate was an E2, almost the
lowest rank in the USAF. The high-ranking officer was severely reprimanded, and we
never saw him again. In all my years in the military, that was the only racist thing I saw.

But I saw it all the time in private life when I was with Nate. My point is that there is
now more racism in the military, due to "Diversity" which has divided our troops into
little groups. Diversity = Division. There are many people that WANT division.
I hope you can see that.

@DogMan It sounds like by “dividing people” you mean a lack of hegemony.

Do you believe that a stable society comes from a collective shared identity to unite everyone?

@jshm2 Hey jism2, what do you have to say about all black colleges, all black dorms, etc?

That is what your meme is about, right?

@jshm2 I didn't say it wasn't true, but it is a meme NOW. Admit it, you love segregation.

You love black only schools and dorms, and anything else that excludes whites, right?

I'm against segregation, are you?
