Why would any company want to do business in a crime infested city?

carpediem · 61-69, M
I have a company that does business in the downtown of one of the country's largest cities known for high crime. The business deals directly with the consumer. We do not have a storefront that can be robbed. I do it because based on the type of business, the resources that attract my customers are there. The vast majority of financial interactions are done online.

I hate it. But we are successful. If this city would clean up it's act, it would be amazing. Not holding my breath though.

Maybe it's not as crime infested as you may think?
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
@Northwest I'm convinced that people who use words like "crime infested cities" don't know what the term 'per capita' means

If they bothered to look at crime rates relative to the population, it's a lot higher in places like Anchorage, AK, Birmingham, AL, St. Louis, MO, and Memphis, TN than it is in San Fran or Seattle. Not coincidentally all in deeply red states
@TinyViolins Then another thing to consider is that wealth inequality and proximity play a role. A poor person is going to be more likely to steal from a middle-class person, than from another poor person. A lot of those big cities, that Republicans always point to, have people from every economic situation living near each other. Los Angeles and New York City aren't small towns where everyone makes about the same amount of money. This is why organized crime has always been a big city thing. That's where the wealth is.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@TinyViolins Sorry, but the murder rate per capita means per 100,000 people.
Do you understand per capita rates? Of course there are more murders in big
cities. A high per capita rate has nothing to do with overall population.

It is a statistic per a metric, if there were 10 murders in a city of 100,000.
it would be equivalent to 100 murders in a city of 1 million. Those murder rates
above are PER CAPITA. New Orleans has the highest per capita rate, not the
most murders.

Which of the following murder capitals have been run by Democrats for decades?
@DogMan
Why is crime up under Biden?

It's not.

@BohemianBabe Of course the crime RATE is dropping, if you are not arresting, and
prosecuting criminals, the RATE goes down. Also, less cops, less arrests.

It's a brilliant concept that Democrats came up with.

Do you have any evidence that Biden made people stop arresting and prosecuting criminals?
akindheart · 61-69, F
EXACTLY. all is does is hurt the residents when the govt can't get control
akindheart · 61-69, F
@DogMan it makes you wonder if the politicians aren't part of the terrorists. look at Portland and Minneapolis
DogMan · 61-69, M
@akindheart Well we know one thing for sure, they are NOT trying to make America Great.

They are helping to knock America down as much as they can.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@DogMan i saw an excellent explanation on instagram. i wish i had saved it. it explained the whole crazy Dem set up. from the media to the whole convicted felon thing.
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
For the same reason the criminals do -- it's where the money is. Show me the money, follow the money: take your pick.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Crime pays?
I know, right? It's almost like your media is lying to you about the crime rate.
