On Saturday he gave a 48 hour deadline for Iran to reopen the strait. This morning he has backed down, claiming improbably that he has had "productive conversations" with the regime: Iran denies having talked to America at all.

Trump has just withdrawn his stupid threat to blow up all the civilian infrastructure unless the Straight of Hormuz is opened in the next few hours. I read some detail on BBC News which tells me that the Iranians have entered negotiations (according to Trump) so the threat is withdrawn. TACO?
