Israel started it by sending missles into Iran first.

@independentone Don't you mean Syria?
But yes they did.
@tindrummer Is that what Israel did? I'm not following it all that closely, but it appears it is Israel who is escalating this war.

@independentone Iran's consulate in Damascus
@tindrummer Attacking Iran's consulate in Damascus would be considered as attacking Iran.
Iran has every right to defend itself and seems to be sending a very mild retaliation.

@independentone I know that -

@Strictmichael75 Hamas is not Iran.

@bijouxbroussard who backs Hamas?
@samueltyler2 he asked
Who attacked Israel and massacred men, women and children
That was Hamas, not Iran.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@bijouxbroussard yes, but the fact is that Hamas is backed and likely controlled by Iran.

Realistically though, although the middle east has essentially been at war for severalillenia, it was fairly stable until a few years ago.
@samueltyler2 If that is why Israel sent missiles to the Iranian Embassy in Syria, who have they been bombing in Gaza ?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@bijouxbroussard You know the answer, Iran is behind all of the anti-Israeli terrorist groups. Russia is likely behind them in turn. There are so many parallels to the 1930s that it is frightening. I do agree that bombing indiscriminately in Gaza is proving to be a disaster, but Hamas so infiltrated Gaza, and NO ARAB country stopped that, no Arab country came in to assist Gazans to live better lives, it could have been developed the way Dubai, etc., was, but no one helped, leaving it to turn into a disastrous breeding ground for propaganda to develop terrorists. I don't know the answer, but until the region accepts the right of Israel to exist, there can be no peace, regardless of what anyone does. For thousands of years that has been the primal problem in the area, we have good archeological and written evidence of the plight of those people called the Hebrews being pushed from land by Arabs. Every now and then a ruler comes along that declares they will destroy the Jews, there is a war, the Jews are not destroyed and then there are years of apparent peace, but with resentment and false claims of ownership of land.

@independentone When did they do that ?
I seemed to have missed that on the news !
tindrummer · M
@independentone Iranian embassy in Damascus but yeah - sorta the same thing
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@tindrummer hardly.
tindrummer · M
@samueltyler2 Embassies are sovereign territory - just like back home.
@samueltyler2 Israel bombed Gaza—because of the attack by Hamas. Now they’ve attacked Iran’s embassy—because they support Hamas. And no Arab countries have provided aid to the Gazan Palestinians ?

Wouldn’t Israel feel justified in attacking such countries if they did ? I’m trying to understand.

By that reasoning, would any country that considers Israel an enemy be justified in attacking the U.S,, since we support and fund Israel ? 🥺
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@bijouxbroussard there will never be a way to understand. There has never been a long last ng peace in that area. Think of all the wars between Arabs and Jews, Persian kings for thousands of years tried to kill all of the Jews. Hamas and Hezbollah have vowed to eliminate the state of Israel.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@tindrummer in some degree yes.
