Are we close to WW3?

What is the likelihood of a world war occuring in the near future? Will it happen soon or in many years to come?

Or, will it happen at all?

It's not going to happen. Despite all the bluster, no one has the appetite for that kind of extended endeavour... especially at the fighting/solider level. People don't have the attention span let alone the endurance to engage in extended activity.

What makes you think WW3 is going to be fought like WW2 and WW1? I don't for one minute belief that Joe Biden or any President has the nuclear football that functions the way they tell us. WW3 will not be fought by ground troops but by computers in control of weapon systems. It would be like Big Blue making moves on the chessboard at lightning speed. Our fates will be sealed in a nano second.

@sree251 You have been playing too many destruction video games with high intensity graphics and scaring yourself with fantasy notions of mutual destruction. The same mutual assured destruction psychology of post-World War II will be at play and no side will attempt to destroy themselves in total. And, no one is willing to give up ground troop theatrics in favour of computer modeling. Keep dreaming, but you better keep saving for retirement because you will need it. My condolences, but plan on a long life.

@MarkPaul Why do you think that people don't have the attention span or the endurance?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@SW-User The reality of modern-day society. Go outside and observe. Report back.

@MarkPaul What is modern day society, according to you?

How does it prevent war?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@SW-User Listen little girl... go outside into the world. Get life experience. Observe what you see. Report back. Here is what you will find:

1. Low attention spans (similar to you)
2. Low endurance (possibly like you)

Report back.

@MarkPaul Why do you insist on being so strange?

I asked a question, what do you find so difficult to grasp about that? If you make an assertion or a claim, people who are interested in knowing the answers are going to ask you to explain it. I want to know the answers.

You, on the other hand, appear to be a troll. Or, someone who is socially inept.

"Get life experience" (I've lived in three countries). For my age, I have a great deal of life experience.

Although, "life experience" is a vague term that can mean different things to different people.

What's your life experience? Not being able to fuck a woman yet?

People clearly do have the appetite for extended endeavor, which I assume is how you are able to spend most, if not all, of your time on this site making posts about Trump, DeSantis, the Republicans, and trolling in posts like mine.

No wonder you can't get a girlfriend.

Regarding war, state and non-state violence has increased in the past decade. In the past three years, two wars with significantly high death tolls have taken place. There are ongoing conflicts in other parts of the world (example: Yemen). Before that, the U.S invaded Iraq and Afghanistan. This kind of foreign policy was continued by Obama in his second term. Now, thousands of people have been killed in Israel and Gaza. Thousands more may still be killed. Iran is probably seeking to develop nuclear weapons, and is now in a position to develop around five nuclear warheads within a fairly short period of time. Israel has made their response very clear if Iran does this, but it isn't deterring them. Last week's attacks have demonstrated that.

Even in the U.S, you are geographically close to war. Rates of state and non-state violence are extremely high in Mexico and Colombia. Both of these countries are engaged in conflict.

Assumedly you are aware of the migrant crisis, too.

@SW-User You said: "Assumedly you are aware of the migrant crisis, too."

Even if he is aware, he is probably not as concerned as you and me are. The world has indeed become less stable. It is sad that the US is a major contributor to that instability. As individuals, we are powerless and cannot rein in our government despite being citizens in a democracy. Do you have any comments to explain why?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@SW-User Listen. I don't know why you are so angry at me especially and unable to handle the truth. But, let's break down your premise you seem so proud of and think anyone with a world view is trolling you.

If you know anything about history, you know World War 1 was largely the result of bloated egos by the royal class that expanded and exploded beyond that to, at the time, unimaginable degrees. World War 2 largely came about as the result of an unchecked power grab and also expanded and exploded from there.

The idea that World War 3 is imminent is not plausible for the reasons I mentioned... that you don't seem to want to accept. Fine. You think trying to insult me will help you win some Internet victory. But, I stand by my observation-based analysis. It's fine that you resided in 3 countries, but have you really lived there? Or, did you go there as you are here with me acting with behaviour that screams at people who you think you are so much better than? You're not a cut above, you know.

I'm not here to admonish you, but you might find it helpful that if you really want to know the answers, maybe you should be more willing to learn instead of condemning and criticising. Practise your condescending attitude on your family and neighbours, but not with me. I await your apology.

And, I don't spend all my time on this site. I work for a living. Finally and most importantly, in case you are new to the planet, war and non-state violence has been going on since human existence. Read the Bible. Study history. Report back.

@MarkPaul You might have a job, but you've still never had sex.

This has some relevance.

Are there not attempts at power grabs now? Do you not see any power grabs happening? Who is doing the checking? If you do too much of it, it can provoke and enrage people. If you do too little of it, it can make your country weak. It strikes me that you don't see a war in Europe, with the U.S being a primary instigator. It, is also facilitating this war. What if it escalates?

I never said that I thought WW3 is imminent. I asked a question and asked some further questions. For some reason, it took several comments to get you to respond to the question. And you still continue with your strangeness.

What's the matter with you, really?

There is nothing I know that you don't.

Probably, you know more.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@SW-User This is why I would never date you. You think you know so much, but you demonstrate such a limited range of thinking. I'm all about expanding what I know, not defending a set of incomplete thoughts that don't account for what is really happening. You seem to want to be the centre of attention and in polite circles we call that "high maintenance."

The point I can only assume you are purposefully missing is, yes there are power grabs. There always has been and there always will be (like in World War 2). Just like there are oversized egos that prevent their individuals from acting sensibly (like in World War 1). My continuing point is what is different now is most socialized automatons (this may include you) have neither the attention span or the endurance (i.e., interest) to slog through a world war. I know you think your World War 3 will all be done bloodlessly with computer modeling and hacking, but your fantasy is just that.

I'm not saying humans won't engage in warfare ever again. It's ingrown in humans; it won't be genetically wiped out. But, an actual world war won't happen. That doesn't mean everyone can feel eternally safe; it just means there won't be a world war. Aside from it not agreeing with your world vision, what can't you seem to understand? Your obstinance is starting to look like a gigantic chip on your shoulder.

Maybe you should check YOUR strangeness at the door. It just might be possible it is clouding the peephole you seem to be using to view the world.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@sree251 I'm not suggesting violence is a thing of the past or that humans have advanced beyond their nature. I'm only saying humans today, in aggregate, don't have the attention span or the endurance to make a commitment to a world war endeavour. In case you didn't know, fighting a war... even in your fantasy world of it being a virtual one... requires an embedded commitment. Do you know what a commitment is?

@SW-User You said: "Probably, you know more."

Do you really think I know more than Mark? Should I report back then?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@SW-User You have the opportunity to ask me anything and these are your questions...?

1. Social media
2. 21st century

I'm not sure you know what "relevant questions" are. Perhaps you have been heavily influenced by social media which only validates my point on this topic.

I really don't know why you have so much anger and disdain for me. It's literally eating you up just like you death wish for humanity.

You may think you are worldly, but the world view you demonstrate is narrow and flimsy and 2-dimensional. Perhaps this is why you are high maintenance. Do better.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@MarkPaul You said: "Do you know what a commitment is?"

Yes sir! I must report back!

You are really a strange character. Who do you think you are talking to on an internet forum? If you can only see us people on our computers talking to you. Imagine a mental ward. You are talking to crazies in the video below. Report back, you say. Are you nurse rachet? You need your head zapped.

@sree251 I don't think you know what a commitment is. It's more than just saying you know what it is. Now, line up to take your medication.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@MarkPaul You do have a Nurse Rachet complex.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@sree251 How does this relate to the topic...?
sree251 · 41-45, M
@MarkPaul It relates to you. You are the topic.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@sree251 You can't even commit to the topic. You have the attention span of a cat chasing a shiny object. This is what I am talking about. Stop being a clown.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@MarkPaul I am curious. What's this thing you have about reporting back? Are you working at a job where your crew have to report back?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@sree251 Your question is irrelevant.
