Where is the safest place to live during a nuclear war ?

I am going to the wastewater treatment plant because I heard the Russians can't hit shit.

Liverpool, even the Germans refused to bomb it during WW11, as it was already declared a disaster zone

Radioactive fallout would be greatest in the Northern Hemisphere, so a Southern Hemisphere location would be best. Tristan da Cunha is in an isolated island location in the South Atlantic, 1750 miles from Africa and 2000 miles from South America. An underground location there, with enough food supplies and access to fresh or treatable water for 20 years, would be the best location to wait out the nuclear winter that would result.

South pole or North pole. that would be my guess.

Any relatively "safe" location would be but a temporary refuge before having to emerge upon an earthscape of dust,ashes - and death.A question to ponder in these days - and as we approach the 60th anniversary of the "Cuban Missile Crisis" next month.

I don't think there will be a really safe place. Radiation will get a lot of people, and nuclear winter will get the rest.

Right at the center of that explosion so you get vaporized in an instant, instead of taking months/years to melt from the inside

On the moon . If nuclear war breaks out it wont matter as earth and everything on it will be obliterated . You would have to be able to live underground for 100s of years until the earths surface was safe for human habitation again .

Probably Finland as I understand they have enough Nuclear Bomb shelters for their entire population 🙂

If the world powers, go nuclear..., there isn't much chance for humanity and the ones that survive will be leading a fucked-up existence.

No one on this planet can really hide from a full-on Nuclear War.
Not even the rich and "needed" types ushered to the various "Bunkers" across the world.

In all reality, the common man is totally screwed. There will be the uber wealthy, some high end preppers and highly placed government officials that will have adequate supplies and shelters, but that is a tiny, tiny fraction of the world's population.

At this point in history if nuclear war broke out there is not really any such thing as a safe place to live. If a full scale exchange happens we are all basically screwed. Both the US and Russia alone have large enough arsenals for an extinction level event.

That this for what it is worth. A friend who is retired from SAC said if a full on exchange happens the best place to be is ground zero. You will be gone before you know what hit you.
