It does seem silly doesn't it? Like sure they raise wages but then prices go up so you are in no better position. But why?
There is a reason though. It is so that money you have in savings and especially cash you may have laying around depreciate.
Some will argue that you should invest but even that is a gamble and you could lose way more than if you left that money just sitting around.

@CestManan Then we must force large corporations to look into other ways to pay their employees a living wage.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@CorvusBlackthorne The only real way to do that is if the big shots took a lower pay and we know THAT is not going to happen.
Like I said though the real reason for inflation is to cheapen people's savings and cash.

@CestManan You are most probably correct. There was a time in American history when the minimum wage was sufficient to purchase a house and support one's spouse and children.

Prices are up because of the cost of transportation of goods. Everywhere along the distribution chain, the price of gasoline/diesel causes the seller to raise the price to compensate. While the consumer suffers, big oil companies report massive profits! The shortage of workers has led to increased salaries, even then, we hear from businesses everywhere that they can't supply the needs of the public because of lack of staff. The lack of people to fill positions is multi-factoral, including a screwed up immigration system, I am speaking of legal immigration, which is my a stumbling block to bringing skilled employees to the US to fill needed positions!

Prices go up every time there is a minimum wage raise. @samueltyler2

A box of name brand cereal is $5,- $7 now

Yes, it is crazy. I've started buying malt o meal cereal and it's not healthy. It's not what I usually buy. @Tminus6453

@Spoiledbrat And the box portions get smaller and smaller as the prices go up

Yep @Tminus6453

The last time the national minimum wage was raised, the year was 2009.
You're paying more for your groceries, not because grocery workers are getting a higher pay. It's because gas is higher, and farming supplies cost more.
As to why raise the federal minimum wage? Would you like to work forever without a pay raise?

My food prices are the same as they were before the supply chain issues affected the world. Some are lower priced, I grow my own garden and buy from local farmers.
Spoiledbrat · F
That is good you can do that. @BackyardShaman

Part of it is the minimum wage hike. Part of it is gas prices to transport groceries to your home. Part of it is that Vladimir Putin is intentionally raising prices in order to blackmail the world.

Gas prices raise food prices as well its getting stupid
