Is there a philosophical style you identify with?

Are you a Stoic or an Epicurean, or do you read but not quite get what they drive at?
I consider the scientific method to be a philosophical style, and I identify with it. Observe, hypothesize, test. Then measure and test some more.

“When someone says 'science teaches such and such', he is using the word incorrectly. Science doesn't teach it; experience teaches it” — Richard P. Feynman, The Pleasure of Finding Things Out, p. 187.

“If it disagrees with experiment, it’s wrong. In that simple statement is the key to science.”
— Richard P. Feynman

"The first principle is that you must not fool yourself and you are the easiest person to fool." — Richard P. Feynman

... haven't you figured it out yet? Perception and reality are not synonyms.

Of course, they are not synonyms. Perception is the phenomenon of seeing, and reality is the state of existence.

@sree251 When was America the greatest democracy?
And when what is a "wholesome Christian nation."?

You do worship authority of science
Science isn't an "authority," it's a methodology. You completely misunderstood the Feynman quotes, didn't you, LOL!!!

I've never really thought about it. Had to look up with they mean. I feel I'm a mix of both.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@zonavar68 Yeah, I call that "sigue derecho". Continue Straight Ahead.
zonavar68 · 56-60, M
@Tastyfrzz I dunno a lot of the time I feel quite 'bent' but it's not clearly defined.
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
I'm a mixture of things. Aztec philosophers... there were many of them, Emil Cioran, Robert Anton Wilson and probably a little bit of the left hand path of things but not enough to declare I'm a Satanist.
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
@Panna Why is it bad to have an opposing person. Must everyone agree with you? I already told you I'm not a Satanist in a literal definition of the word but I like some left handed path things generally. I don't think opposites are bad though, I think they can be bad but are not always.
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
@Tastyfrzz I dunno. Never practiced sex magic, so not sure. But I assume you mean Robert Anton Wilson, he's a really good philosopher too, should check him out on YouTube 😊

@Tastyfrzz Also I don't believe in any such thing as heathens. I believe a mixture of personal experiences, beliefs, culture, viewpoints, what one goes thru in life all shapes how they are. So it's a little hard to say that anyone can be heathens as that would imply that there's only one true religion and since there's not, you can't possibly be a heathen.

But if you wanted to be, you could I guess lol 😂 I don't want to dash your dreams or hopes

I’m quite a stoic person. Always have been
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Maybe an Existentialist? Not sure, haven't read Philosophy since I had Philosophy 101 and 102 in college back around 1969.
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
I think Existentialism and a bit nihilistic.
@Starcrossed But you have to be more than nothing to exist...
Alyosha · 31-35, M
Analytic philosophy, I suppose.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
Yes. They both sound good.
tenente · 100+, M
i can't say there is tbh i find some philosophical approaches like stoicism, pragmatism and minimalism resonate with me but to say i subscribe to any of those would be lying b/c i take issue with other aspects of them 🤷‍♂️
