In my opinion, the philosophies of both Marx and Nietzche could be fundamentally flawed and not practicable.
Marx is known for his political theory critical of capitalism, while Nietzche's philosophy advocates the abandonment of traditional morality and religion.
Both philosophers were prescribing cures for the ills of human society. To this day, their solutions have not provided cures for their patient: humanity.
So, which is it? Did we misunderstand those two thinkers or did they misdiagnosed our ailment?

Authoritarianism is a characteristic of all social systems. This is inevitable when a large group of people are organized to live in a certain way. The system itself is the authority. In the US, the Constitution dictates how people must live. We are a so-called democracy. Our police enforce order and they are armed with handguns.
And they claimed to be communist, but like I said, they lied about what Marx wrote, so that they could do whatever they wanted. They ended up building an authoritarian state

@sree251 Freedom is a spectrum. I think we should have more freedom and more democratic control over our institutions. The fact that the SCOTUS judges don't have term limits is deranged.
But no, America is not authoritarian. We still elect the president, the vice president, governors, mayors, and many other civil servants. We're still democratic, though that could end very soon if Project 2025 happens.

May I ask how you got to the philosophy section? I couldn't find it at "Politics & News".
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@sree251 im more familiar with marx personally. But am aware enough of Nietzsche that I'm more than aware that he wasn't a proto nazi

What is proto-nazism, in your opinion? I cannot form an opinion on what the German Worker's Party was all about. Does it even exist now?

@sree251 basically a nazi before nazis were a thing. It was a nationalist and anti Jewish party
Poor blokes didn't know they'd create an ideology that caused the deaths of hundreds of millions.

What was his reason for rejecting nationalism? As an American who was proud of his country, I have come to realize some serious drawbacks to nationalism. It's is dangerous and neurotic to form cliques; especially, the kind that lead to group conflicts.
from my very limited understanding was that he was anti nationalist.

Human rights are a set of arbitrary rules. Are there any Marxist society? As @Guitarman123 said, Marx's ideology is not understood. What you referred to as Marxist society is a band of people exploiting other people. This is an universal trait in all forms of human society.
Strange how every Marxist society had human rights abuses.

Misunderstood in what sense? That the people who abused their writings were very much motivated by the self and not the other?
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@val70 misunderstood in the sense that people such as hitler and mao claimed to be influenced by their writings while their actions contradicted them
val70 · 51-55
@Guitarman123 Yes, I rather understood that. But then again, I don't think they could have understood anything that was contrary to what they wanted to create
AndysAttic · 56-60, M
In more ways than one.
RachelLia2003 · 22-25, F

Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@RachelLia2003 both were atheists. Both anti state and anti nationalists
RachelLia2003 · 22-25, F
@Guitarman123 so both are terrorists🙄
Guitarman123 · 31-35, M
@RachelLia2003 no as they terrorised nobody
BohemianBabe · M
True. Everyone thinks Nietzsche was a Nazi, and Marx was a Tankie.
