Aside from being incredibly old

if Abe Lincoln were alive today would he still be a republican?

Top | New | Old
No.

He was educated, loved the country, and worked to make it a united and better country.
@rinkydinkydoink Yes! lol

DJT didn't understand the point of being presented with a copy of his grandfather's birth certificate...
@SomeMichGuy

The Drumpf grandpa, right?.. LOL
@rinkydinkydoink The grandpa of the Presi-Dunce

No, I don't think so

Extremely unlikely.
@bijouxbroussard

Earlier I asked Google if the two major parties switched sides since Lincoln.
@rinkydinkydoink Did you look up Southern Strategy ? When blacks started voting Democrat to support labor unions and education, the segregationists switched to the GOP.

Let me clarify - a blind man could see the two sides switched (and with a decided swing in the 1960s). I wanted to know if the switch was gradual or not. Maybe I should have looked into the insidiousness of the Southern Strategy, too.

I got sick and tired of hearing the laughable term The Party of Lincoln tossed around so carelessly.

Maybe this is a good place to start? It's basically a summary of then and now, I guess.
