@rinkydinkydoink Did you look up Southern Strategy ? When blacks started voting Democrat to support labor unions and education, the segregationists switched to the GOP.

Let me clarify - a blind man could see the two sides switched (and with a decided swing in the 1960s). I wanted to know if the switch was gradual or not. Maybe I should have looked into the insidiousness of the Southern Strategy, too.
I got sick and tired of hearing the laughable term The Party of Lincoln tossed around so carelessly.
Maybe this is a good place to start? It's basically a summary of then and now, I guess.
