How many of you are old enough to remember when basements were called cellars and were virtually uninhabitable?

I had my darkroom in it, and we stored things in it, otherwise, there was a coal bin, and the boiler.

Like you, my sister's son had a darkroom in the cellar and like @exexec her hubby made wine (as well as small articles of furniture).
