Are the government and media scaremongering regarding the recent flu epidemic?

There have been lots of reports of it spreading like wildfire and it being life threatening, people urged to get the vaccine but I'm yet to know of anyone who has actually had it,
Now it's one degree below freezing and they're telling people how to avoid dropping dead from severe cold. The world has turned into a spineless nanny state.

Flu is the 'worry' because it'll keep people away from work.

But it appears refusing measles vaccines and so infecting entire communities is perfectly acceptable....so long as youngsters die quietly

I plan NOT to get the flu shot this year, because apparently it won't work, anyway. They prepared loads of it, but it isn't the right vaccine for THIS flu virus. And knock on wood!

In a word, yes.

Its a media(ted) (un)reality perpetuated for obvious reasons (selling a product, in this case snake oil worded as vaccines) and not so obvious (fear and mass psychological operations).
No. The numbers indicate a bad flu and a population unable to do a single thing to curtail transmission or deaths.

@BlobbyMcBlobface centrists are right wing. Two rights, no left! Single payer is left of center. Nobody's complaining that the dying was accidental! Y'all's doing exactly as you meant to. The country doesn't need to include us leftists.
They got stockpiles of poison nobody wants and paid for already. + you kinda wanna keep the charade up after forcing everyone to take it and near kill the economy..

@BlobbyMcBlobface I took the flu vaccine when my daughter was young, she was diagnosed with lupus and thought I was helping her. Each time I was getting paraflu and it was the vaccine triggering it. I always got it once a month in the winter. After the third time I read that it was associated with flu vaccines. I also developed rheumatoid arthritis during that time and believe it caused an autoimmune reaction and resulted in that. I have never had the paraflu after I stopped taking the flu vaccine for the past 30 years. This is was one reason that I was vehement in refusing the COVID vax. I figured it they were pushing it with propaganda so much that there was a nefarious reason for doing so.

@cherokeepatti I fell for the covid one big time, didn't venture beyond the gate for 6 weeks and left any mail on the floor for 48 hours before touching it, then i carried on as normal and only caught it in 2024, the symptoms weren't pleasant but only lasted a day or two.
I remember talking to you years ago about your arthritis, i have rheumatoid too.

@BlobbyMcBlobface I remember the history lessons of Germany during WWII and my 4th-grade class had a unit on the propaganda techniques. At the end of the week our teacher asked us if this sort of thing could ever happen again. I was the only one in that class to say YES and she asked why. I told her that people forget the lessons that their ancestors learned the hard way because the human heart doesn’t change. I think that the modern mass media (so many news outlets and tv media, internet etc) pressured the public relentlessly and scared the crap out of many.

I am a person who gets my suspicion red-flag raised when anybody tries to put pressure on me to do anything. That includes walking into a store and being lit upon by aggressive sales people. I will turn on my heal immediately and tell them no thanks, I don’t see anything here that interests me. I refuse to be pressured. One reason for this is that my father was a malevolent narcissists who was always coming up with schemes for things and I learned quickly to say no. Only person in the family who would do that, everyone was intimidated by him.
