US fears Haiti could fall, and is expediting multinational force led by Kenya.

Why is it our business if Haiti falls? Multinational force led by Kenya? This has the smell of a CIA operation. When are we Americans going to stop this crap before Congress revs up our debt clock and shells out another $50 billion for arms support and humanitarian aid for Haiti?

While I question a good deal of our tendency to run around the world, meddling in the name of national security, when it is in our hemisphere it takes on a more realistic hue. And not just because of any perceived real threat (such as the Soviets putting nuke missiles in Cuba) or questionable ideological fears (such as Reagan's forays into Grenada and El Salvador). For all those so frightened by the multitudes lining up at our Southern Border, where do you think the Haitians are going to flee -- check that, are fleeing -- due to the unsettled political and economic scene in their homeland? How does the cost of helping bring some stability to that country compare to the ever-increasing cost of building a wall which doesn't work, needs to be higher, requires razor wire and dog patrols, etc.?

@dancingtongue You said: "For all those so frightened by the multitudes lining up at our Southern Border, where do you think the Haitians are going to flee -- check that, are fleeing -- due to the unsettled political and economic scene in their homeland?"

So, it has become our business to bring stability to other places lest the denizens there head for the promise land of milk and honey? Have you any idea how tough it is for our rednecks to survive here? And our inner cities look no better than the slums of South America, Africa, and Asia. I have got to admit that somehow, like you, I do feel unconnected to the human misery in my midst. It is the same for the Brahmins, the upper class in India. It is quite amazing how they could live with such detachment from the deprivation. When I was there on my spiritual quest, I was insulated from the muck unseen in luxury hotels and the spotless homes of patrons located in city slums.

As we have discussed on another thread, our childhoods were quite different and I do know something about how difficult a hand-to-mouth, or a paycheck-to-paycheck existence is, particularly in rural America. But I also realize that there a heck of a lot subsistence level jobs going begging in the US -- you only need look at the help wanted signs, no need for the stats -- and those same "rednecks" you are concerned about don't want to work them.

Not talking about it being our business, nor a humanitarian/moral/ethical obligation unless we are truly hypocrites about what we say we stand for. I'm talking about pragmatic self-interest on relieving the pressure on our borders.

If our country ( the U.S.) fears Haiti will fall why aren’t we ( our government) doing what it has always done, step in and taking control?

A force led by Kenya? Who set that up? Obama?

Sorry, but Haiti has not in the last 30 + years had their act together.

@soar2newhighs the clinton foundation raised almost a billion dollars for haiti after volcanis eruption. They spent maybe 10 million, the rest went to the clintons

The current situation in Haiti stems from the failures of its corrupt government to address poverty and combat crime. With the Haitian government seeking assistance and millions of refugees being displaced towards the US due to the conflict, it's imperative for the US to take some sort of action. Kenya is just a puppet We all know the CIA is leading this effort

The US is in the business of war, regardless of the outcome. After the US spent billions to help Israel demolish Gaza infrastructure, we are now spending billions more to help alleviate the humanitarian disaster we help to cause.
@Justice4All How many third world countries’ leaders really give a fuck about the people of the country?
sree251 · 41-45, M
@soar2newhighs Do you think the leaders of the USA gives a damn about Americans? Going after Russia and China is putting all of us in harm's way.
@sree251 Leader, USA, China, Russia=Joe Biden being bought. And owned.

It's strategically important to US security for quite a few reasons, it's easy to research why that is. The USA always benefits from any "peacekeeping" operation. Not everything is a CIA conspiracy.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Richard65 The USA benefits? Is it the USA that we Americans are bankrolling but not part of? I am sure you are right about the benefits even though they are a mystery. It's like dad not telling what he does for a living and we in the family don't ask too may questions.

Ask kilary for some of that billion dollars she raised for haiti
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@Patriot96 less than 90k actually made it to haiti

I wish that a massive hurricane could rescue taxpayers for once, since no gov't has the courage to let such people from these places fend for themselves.
TheBannibalOne · 61-69, M
They had 3800 escape from prison.
I have a feeling they are coming here,🫥
sree251 · 41-45, M
@TheBannibalOne The escapees are the good guys.
Because they don't want all the Voodoo Priestesses hexing America, and no, I am not kidding, this is not a joke.

@sree251 I'll have you know I DO take responsibility for my place. I've been talking about how the Federal government has focused all their time, energy and attention to foreign wars and neglected the needs of everyday Americans. I pay my taxes, I hold the door for old people, I take the shopping cart back to the store and I take care of my property.
