Congratulations, Aussies.

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) is out with its ranking of the world's most livable cities. Top 5: Vienna, Copenhagen, Melbourne, Sydney, and Vancouver.
Morrigan · F
As an Australian I would not live in Sydney, there are so many better places to be.

@Morrigan To be fair, Sydney is the better tourist city. It has the major sights and that habour is the way to see it or travel if you can.. But to live your daily life in I have to agree..😷

Thats me at number 3.. Its just too hard to learn German or Danish at my age..But I can get a heart transplant within 5km or coffee that puts Starbucks to shame at the top of the street and be sure I can visit the mall or let my grandkids go to school and sure they will be alive to be picked up. And it never snows.. Thats good enough for now..😷
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
@whowasthatmaskedman I hope you don't need a heart transplant
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@lumberjackslam No.. But grandchildren spent 3 monthis in NICU unit at birth and the service was there..and free.. They are ten now..Not a lot of cities can manage that..😷
They shouldve replaced the top spot with detroit, Michigan. That place is totally liveable! Well.. if you stay away from the unliveable parts which is literally the entire city of detroit but if you can see past that its 100% liveable

Vienna must have improved since the days of Harry Lime.

@Thinkerbell I feel like there is a point in there someplace. But Yes. We are talking about "Livable" cities after all. And open latrines are not usually a feature..Good drinking water and regular electricity are also featured..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman

But of course there's a point, Kemo Sabe... they finished off Harry Lime in the Vienna sewer system, and crime in Vienna has remained low ever since. 😁

@Thinkerbell Very good! Sorry. I missed the reference. I have never been a real Orson Welles fan. Odd I know..😷
DCarey · 46-50, M
Chicago, Detroit, Portland, New York, and Compton didn't make the list?
daydeeo · 61-69, M
@DCarey Obvious bias
I certainly enjoy being in Melbourne, although traffic is a bit of a negative - takes ages to get around.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
'Liveable' is a bit of an ambiguous concept. The top 10 includes Geneva and Zurich, cities from which 99.9% of the world's population are effectively excluded from living in on the grounds of affordability and nationality.
daydeeo · 61-69, M
@SunshineGirl Certainly true regarding "liveability".
I'm sure they used some objective metrics, but I don't know exactly what they were.
melbourne and sydney are the most over taxed nanny states on planet earth.

this is a conformity award...
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Now I know how mad max happens.
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Right? Brisbane is where it’s at. Except don’t move here anyone.
Slade · 56-60, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout definitely the same for Vancouver. Another place with mass tent cities
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
Vancouver? 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂 😅

where does Detroit fall in all this?
