Weather is always a surprise, but you have a commander in chief who wants it that way in denial. Poliics and divisions do sadly matter.
I'd try to find all your ways to enjoy a storm forecast though. Why not feel your heart skip a beat from a roar of thunder?

@awildsheepschase i do like thunder and lightning. Thunderstorms in the heat of summer are exhilarating.
@sundazzled The best time is watching a thunderstorm roll in upon a beach.

It is very scary. What bothers me is the flood location is one of the most well known areas for flash floods and they do not have an early warning system - no telephone text messages, tv and radio alerts, nothing. The person leading the search and rescue effort admitted this. Why???
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Livingwell why would anyone allow a camp be developed in such an area? On second thought, why did Texas allow its electrical grid to be so vulnerable to climate change? There seems no regulation, no matter how life saving it may be, for the radical right to oppose
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Idk about the USA but the weather and its consequences in Europe didn't use to be this extreme. There have always been floods and wildfires but before it used to happen in expected areas. Rhodes and Crete used to be safe vacation places. They aren't anymore. I don't know why because I think there were conditions for wildfires there before but maybe there weren't so many careless morons or something.
I remember seeing hailstorms as a kid but never heard about hailstorms that would manage to damage cars and house roofs across the city. Now it's a potential threat every summer.

@CrazyMusicLover you are a good observer of the environmental changes that are more and more apparent to the lay public. Climate scientists have been warning is about this for over 50 years!in the US, it is the radical right refusing to accept this fact that more than amazes me. Can the fossil fuel industry really be that powerful? Are the radicals just plain evil? I just don't get it!
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@samueltyler2 Whether leaders believe it or not, they don't care either way. As most people really don't as well. It's something people just shrug over because they don't see any solution.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@CrazyMusicLover but, there Are solutions!
Hinckley ·
I think there's more severe weather in the past few years due to climate change. This is my personal opinion at least.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Hinckley and that of hundreds, if not thousands, of climate and weather experts.

When you spray the skies, have dangerous cell phone towers and EMF radiation everywhere, tons of plastics in the oceans, landfills filling up with electric batteries, solar panels, windmill blades and when you want to cut down millions of trees you may have a problem. But then again we are in a very turbulent solar cycle and thus is the main driver of our environment.

You can always blame it on cow flatulence and humans. According to leftist politicians we need to eliminate both.
“We can solve the problem easily by paying leftist politicians and carbon credits, that’s worked well so far.?” :)

Weather surprises were far worse in the days we didn’t have the national weather service with their state of the art forecasting tools. But today we spend more time marketing the toll or potential toll that weather has or might have on society.
BiasForAction · M
@awildsheepschase I don’t understand the point you are trying to make here
Livingwell · 61-69, M
@BiasForAction Snowmagedon! 🤣
BiasForAction · M
@Livingwell good example!
Pretzel · 70-79, M
yeah and now we're headed into hurricane season - yikes
Jake966 · 56-60, M
There was a bad hail storm in Binghamton NY on Wednesday
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
No, it hasn't always been like this, CLIMATE CHANGE! And now the funding to provide accurate weather forecasting has been limited because DOGE and the radical right think it is better to give the uber rich tax breaks!
sundazzled · 22-25, F
@samueltyler2 i saw a weather man in Florida went rogue on camera and said he didn't know if he could accurately predict how a hurricane will turn because of the doge cuts. If a hurricane is going to turn your way it would help to get a heads up.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@sundazzled I really hope that the radicals are right , that the decrease in funding in the new bill will not produce the problems the experts predict.
pineappleicenicotinebuzz · 22-25, F
Unpredictable extreme weather events will only get more and more common as we plunge into the inevitable demise we've built for ourselves.
@pineappleicenicotinebuzz Yet some in such denial they celebrate their contributions with anger. The logic does check out emotionally, they want their way of life that has contributed to killing ecosystems. I probably would be angry with myself too

And of impending wars. I sometimes feel sorry for my grandchildren having to face what they have to look forward to from megalomaniacs like Putin and Trump who lie llf its in their short-term interest.
pdockal · 56-60, M
We as humans build & destroy nature in the name pf progress so it'll keep getting worse
iamthe99 · M
No it wasn't. It's climate change. But the MAGAts firmly believe that it's a Chinese hoax because Trump said so.
Convivial · 26-30, F
For those who don't believe in global warming, get used to it
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Convivial there really are no words to express my increasing disgust with the radical.politicians in the US that refuse to accept the opinion of hundreds of climate scientists. The earth is moving more rapidly in the wrong direction.

yes, you just have numerous sources that didnt exist a short time ago, now flooding you with opinion and headlines
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@1490wayb but we have very strong data revealing the fact that there is a greater frequency of weather extremes now. Most climate scientists attribute this to warming of the oceans and thus, from climate change. Things will only get worse in the coming years, and the defunding of the agencies responsible for predicting the events and responding to them will only add to the disasters.

That and there is nowhere safe from them anymore either. ☹
