Sunday January 6h through Monday January 7th Snowstorm and ice rain over my farm.

On Sunday January 6th it began to snow over my Jackson County Ohio farm dropping 8 inches of snow during the day light hours then one inch of ice in the evening hours and another 8 inches of snow on top of that the next morning Monday January 7th. It took me 14 hours to shovel out my driveway having me cursing myself for selling my farm tractor in the early fall and not buying a snow blower. I deer hunted through the snowstorm and shoveled out the following day after it quit snowing.

I still love the winter and snow though!

Yesterday (January 10 through January 11th) today we have been getting more snow around the 4-to-6-inch range.

I love the winter clean air. Breathe it in.

@Lilymoon Oh, I did too, I loved the snow shoveling as well, the 14 hours was broken into two days of work, it was a great winter fat burner to say the least.

I’m finding it rather odd that all the storms seem to be going south of my area. In fact I have been able to clear our snow with a broom.
The ice is another story. It definitely makes things more difficult for clearing driveways and such. Just be careful out there but enjoy as much as possible.

@SageWanderer Thank you and I am enjoying it from inside of the house now. All shoveled out and deer harvested that I was hunting for to fill my freezer with natural meat.

So here we are now!

Just have a plow mounted on the front of your pickup! All of our people here, who plow, have that sort of arrangement. It can be removed when the snow melts.

@4meAndyou That is a brand-new pick up with less then 1700 miles on it. And I know all about the snowplows and the damage caused to the pickups that are used for snow plowing. No thanks. New tractor and or a snow blower does not ruin a $43,000 new vehicle that should last me 10 years.

But thanks for the thought. I obviously never do what others do. LOL

@WillaKissing I didn't know it damaged the trucks so much. Sorry!
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
@4meAndyou Oh, you are quite fine with your thoughts.
Yeah, it wrecks the front ends and suspension terribly. Snow has weight and pushing tons at a time with a vehicle has its serious wear and tears. Thats why if it is a new pickup guys sell them after a couple years of snow plowing and it destroys the old trucks.

Cant you get like a snow plow attachment for your truck?
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
@SStarfish They won't do that, not when you wreck one snow plowing and they can sell you another newer more expensive one. And why I shovel and save my truck, besides it is a great winter fat burner/exercise.
@WillaKissing that's true.. it is a workout for sure 😀😅
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
@SStarfish Absolutely! No other way to say it outside of Absolutely it is! LOL
