A couple of photos from my hike yesterday

A ribbon snake and a woodpecker. Saw lots of beautiful frogs too but didn’t get shots.

Cool shots.

That looks like a large snake! I run across snakes (literally) on my biking trails. 🫣

There are several types of garter snakes. Most do have a line streak. Yet there are other snakes that have a similar line.

These two (same garter snake) is the western, southern California variety.

While this one is a king snake. Again southern California

Very nice, it was a beautiful day to be out yesterday.

@Degbeme it sure was! And it’s mostly shady at the place we hike so we were not really feeling the heat or sun

Thanks. We have a ribbon snake that lives in our day lilies.

That's a cobra
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
@JohnnyNoir Right. I mean, as far as I know, and I’m not gonna stick around long to find out.
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@JohnnyNoir I don’t think we have them in Ontario
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
@Jenny1234 might have escaped from the zoo

Wow! Great shots

Nice, Downy Woodpecker...
Nice pictures. I have hummingbirds, woodpeckers and all sorts of birds come to eat. Most snakes I encounter are chicken snakes, rattlesnakes, copperheads and a few black snakes

The Ribbon snake is similar to a Garter snake but is only in the Eastern portions of North America. More brown than the Garter.
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@hlpflwthat we have both ribbon and garter snakes here. I didn’t get a close up of the face where you can find a good distinction between the two snakes near the eyes and the mouth
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
Great photos. I would have been terrified by a snake that size!
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@Harmonium1923 naw they are harmless
Is that ribbon snake the same as a Gardiner Snake?
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@Ghostinthemachine very similar! They look almost identical, but you have to check the eyes and the mouth area plus one is a little bit bigger than the other so from my point of view I’m going to call it a ribbon snake, but you could call it a gardener if you want
Very nice photos. Sounds like you had a great time.

Good morning 🙂 I don't do snakes. Other than that, lovely pictures.
