Every time I see a baseball player lope to first base on what looks like a sure out

I think of Pete Rose. He NEVER (to my knowledge) slowed up but gave it his all in case the infielder bobbled the ball. That error may lead to a run then to a win which may win the entire season.

Yep - 15 times in the yearly MVP voting. Last time when he was 40.

@rinkydinkydoink I know nothing about baseball mind you. Have however read bout five books about Pete Rose. Spurred by his resent pardon. Actually per biography, a cool dude.
@Punxi

He makes ONE - albeit glaring - mistake and he was supposed to be blamed for all eternity?

@rinkydinkydoink Right!?....took their time but ...glad they reinstated him. I'm sure it meant a lot to him.
@Punxi

He's running the bases "up there" now... may he RIP

@rinkydinkydoink Meant .....past ...tence. May he forever RIP....in the Diamond that shines in the light of God.
@Punxi

Do you mean in the looking-down-from-Heaven sense?
It would've meant a lot to him to have been reinstated while he was alive - but, anyhoo... the next stop may be Cooperstown :)
