What are your thoughts on tofu?

SW-User Best Comment
I like it, especially when cooked in a spicy curry & peanut sauce with white rice 😋
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@SW-User yes exactly what I was imagining
funfan · 46-50, M
@SW-User Tofu is quite versatile, isn't it? Works so well in curries like you described. 😋

Nimbus · M
If you enjoy eating cardboard and have none in stock it makes a good substitute.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Nimbus you have to cook it silly head 😭
Nimbus · M
@DeluxedEdition Ooops! 😛
@DeluxedEdition Oh...COOKED cardboard...! Now I still don't understand all the tofu love...lol

Hiyayako : fantastic makes for a great appetizer, goes well with your favorite adult beverage.

it is okay with me, depends a LOT on the source..
but i nver feel fully nourished by it
HOWEVER, tempeh? that feeds me as good meat
well oiled so it slides off the plate into the trash and you don't have to touch it
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
Delicious and full of protein (if cooked correctly)
legodood · M
I love and live for All Things Tofu! Wbu? It's quite hilarious to read all these SWeeps in the comments who have obviously no clue about something that's enjoyed daily by well over a billion people. 😆
Scribbles · 36-40, F
@legodood I don't understand all the tofu hate either🤷‍♀️
MrAboo · 36-40, M

EvilEmily · F
cook it like tofu and its great.. try to emulate meat with it and its fail
funfan · 46-50, M
@EvilEmily excellent advice! tofu should not be used to emulate anything. do you use it in asian dishes too?
EvilEmily · F
@funfan i am more an eater then a cook...
funfan · 46-50, M
@EvilEmily no problem with that as eating is the goal of cooking haha

🤢 Tofu Really Sucks! 🤮
Rotten Raw Eggs with Live Maggots are as appealing.
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
@Valerian do you prepare that as a wriggly omelette because sounds like clean protein
Namor69 · 41-45, M
haven't messed with it for a while now... but deep fried crispy tofu with a nice dipping sauce was ideal!! 👌
Greyjedi · M
If cooked badly, bad If in a tasty dish, good. I’ve read that it is an amazing source of protein, at the same time I’ve also read that is hugely made of partially hydronated oils. These oils are really bad for you and will become fats that are only leave via liposuction. So hope you really love the dish.

Tofu is really good. My husband and I often love to eat some soft tofu with fresh fruit or a sprinkling of chia seeds and sesame seeds for breakfast. Blending the tofu with fruit makes it taste like a lovely pudding.

Marinating firm tofu and baking it or cooking it on the stove is good. Tofu in stews and stirfry is good too.

It depends on how it’s prepared. It can be very good.
@bijouxbroussard looks good
redredred · M
Too much phyto-estrogens for good health for either sex.
Scribbles · 36-40, F
@redredred Great, people should always talk to their doctors about things that might effect their health or a loved ones health.

And as an oncologist she can explain what estrogen does to tumors. And how much too much soy could be for someone with a tumor. Because she can be more specific.

But my statement is still largely correct. A little tofu is fine in GENERAL. Will some people be MORE careful simply because it could have some benefit for them to be extra careful specifically because of health conditions..of course. That is true for anything. My Father has issues with blood clots. He should.not eat cranberries for example. But that doesn't mean that a blanket statement like "cranberries is not good for the health of men and women. " Is true. That is all I mean.

Hope you and your wife are doing ok. Cancer is the fucking worst.
redredred · M
@Scribbles no, it killed her. Soy is a death sentence to people with breast or ovarian cancer.
Scribbles · 36-40, F
@redredred I'm so sorry for your loss.

Your statement makes a lot more sense as to why you advocate against soy so strongly. I will remember your wife when I talk about soy from.now and mention that while soy does have some.health benefits for some.people it's not for infants or possibly anyone suffering or have recovered from breast or ovarian cancer. I may ask a few friends of mine who have had breast cancer about it as well. Some of them eat tofu. So I'm curious what their doctors said about it too.

I do know that lowering the estrogen level in the body is ideal.as it can help slow the cancer's growth or help prevent it from coming back. So taking a protective role and avoiding soy makes sense when you want to be careful :/

Thank you for telling your story, sorry for bringing up bad memories.
dayalllost · 36-40, M
It’s good. It’s a wonderful base for many dishes and because it’s basically flavorless you can add almost anything you want for flavor to make it taste amazing
Elessar · 26-30, M
It's not bad. But the consistency is weird. Feels like eating brains 🧠 (no I don't eat brains, it's just how I imagine their consistency to be like lol)
Scribbles · 36-40, F
For all the people who hate tofu. I am currently eating marinated and grilled tofu. Yum..so good. Mmmm...
Patty81 · 41-45, C
firm and extra firm are good, a lot depends on brand I’ve found. Can’t make mapo tofu without it :)
redredred · M
Way too many phyto-estrogens for healthy eating by men or female cancer patients.

SweetMae · 70-79, F
It is not my favorite food.

missit15 · 56-60, M

SW-User
Can’t say that I’ve ever had it
Dlrannie · 31-35, F

Dshhh · M
I prefer Tempeh to be honest
Teslin · M
Nope. Do not like the texture.
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
As long as it’s extra firm
I've only had it in miso soup.
