@empanadas yes, they still are better than you.
empanadas · 31-35, M
@Chiefjustice yes, breaking into stores and rioting makes them outstanding citizens.
Chiefjustice · 46-50, M
@empanadas No one should be engaged in destructive activities, riots are UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR no matter what. I do not condone such behavior or activity.

I hate to be Debbie-downer, but,I think everyone needs to hesitate for a moment to see if in fact, it is a peace agreement. So far, all that i really see is an interruption, maybe, in fighting.
as to the hostages, every life restored is valuable, but how many live hostages out of how many hostages taken on that horrible October day are/have been recovered?
How will the other Arab countries help restore order in the area? Or will it be left to Israel and some form of Gazan government alone? I heard that US troops are being deployed there now.
If you look at the maps of the area for thousands of years, Gaza has always been displayed as a separate entity, a lone among all of the other countries in the area. Will this new proposal help them? Will Egypt be willing to have open commerce with Gazans?

@samueltyler2 no the other countries do nothing! well except paying lip service.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@StygianKohlrabi my point exactly, the other countries did their best to prevent peace from coming into the area.

There are plenty of other injustices to protest about.
Eventually most of them will become weary of the personal cost and the constant resistance. Then they will stop protesting, settle down, get jobs (many already have jobs), get married (many are already that too), have children (ditto).
Many in the wider world will interpret that as the students being "pacified" and that they have "grown" up. But all it actually means is that some will have admitted that they don't feel personally strong enough to continue.

They could get jobs and pay taxes .. just saying
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@BrandNewMan haha yeah right
PatKirby · M
@BrandNewMan
Considering plenty of them are paid protesters it likely qualifies as some kind of job, except them paying taxes on the income is a whole other matter.

The protesters here were mad about so many things it’s hard to say.
Trump should have NEVER pressured Bibi to agree to this… We will see them come again and again after Israel to no avail cause God has them in his hand and their days are in his hand as well. Why can’t ALL the western countries wake up and realize they want Israel and ALL Jews to not exist. They have boldly and brazenly stated there will be many Oct. 7ths.
I don’t think the God of Heaven is happy with anyone pressuring Israel…

@Strictmichael75 I agree

@BrandNewMan personally I don't think Israel had much choice. Also because of pressure from Trump, also because of their international standing with Europe and also because of the internal social and political rift within Israel.
Unfortunately, because the Hamas was not completely defeated , we'll be seeing another round of fighting in the coming years.
Another result of the current treaty is that Hamas received legitimation despite their atrocities on October 7th and have been rewarded by the West.

The first step of the agreement is accepted

Why don't they all head to Mexico maybe and protest the drug cartels... I'm sure they'll be welcomed

They'll waste their time moving on to the next cause...or...they'll just all go back to protesting Trump.

It isn't a peace treaty. It's an agreement to return the hostages (remember them?) and stop the fighting.
And the protesters (and Palestinians) never got what they aim for , which is "From the River to the Sea" and inhalation of Israel.
The West is SO naive

Indeed and much of it is willingly.
Not this white girl… not about this. Oh I can be called naive about many things BUT NOT THIS!

Sometimes free of speech gets abused too much in Australia

But then that will leave you with nothing to complain about.
StygianKohlrabi · M
don't worry, this treaty will just lead to another war. Hamas holds all the cards. they're releasing the next group of leaders from Israeli prison. when they attack it will lead to a restarting of the cycle.
BridgeOvertroubledWaters · 61-69, M
@StygianKohlrabi unfortunately SO true
StygianKohlrabi · M
@BridgeOvertroubledWaters yep we've seen it happen before
The agreement isn’t final and there will be plenty of time sabotage it.
Chiefjustice · 46-50, M
It is time for justice, ensure no more american money is spent in killing innocent people and war criminals are served.
