How do you clear your mind so you can fall asleep?

I always have so many thoughts and emotions swirling around my head, I don’t know how to turn them off.

ChiefJustWalks · 26-30
I get high usually

I interrupt my own thoughts constantly, like not allowing myself to think about the whole scenario or sentence.
When they keep coming, I give myself a simple assignment like: ‘only think about this white cube’ and refer all of your ongoing thoughts back to the assignment, and focus on the rhythm of your breathing while envisioning it.
When I really can’t do it, I watch an episode of a series for 5 minutes and then try again.
When it’s about something practical, take your agenda and put a reminder in it for tomorrow so it can leave your mind then.

That's pretty @kimmy159 ingenious. Seriously

@Bang5luts Sometimes you pick up life hacks along the way haha ;)

Tbh idk. I just knock out either from being sleep deprived or from taking melatonin

{@sophiesmiles] i am not an expert but if you wake up it is like a dream and you break whatever was in your mind as you slept

I usually play out a scenario that I would like to happen! 😛.. and just keep it going and going.. it’s like a reading a book.. your mind has to find people in your life and relate them to a character.. and using your imagination to keep that storyline going .. whether it’s something nasty.. or innocent like riding a bike with a childhood friend .. whatever will bring you comfort while you are trying to sleep .. don’t fixate on one thing.. allow your mind to wander 🙂

When I close my eyes, after a minute or two I begin to see these weird geometric patterns that just sort of fold in on themselves repeatedly. Apparently it has something to do with brain damage (yayyy brain lesions)? 🤔
Lostpoet · M
I think about drowning in the middle of the pacific ocean sinking further and further down until i fall asleep😌peaceful.
@Lostpoet I should try that
Lostpoet · M
@Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz363 It actually does work and i find it peaceful.

At different times I've tried pretty much every one of these suggestions

https://casper.com/blog/how-to-fall-asleep-fast/

Currently I have a totally dark room with a white noise machine going, I find it helps me blank my mind.
I use to use melatonin when my ocd was really bad and I would just lay there and ruminate. The melatonin helps knock me out fast so I don't do that.

I turn the tv on, on mute and pick a mundane program and set the sleep timer for 1 hr. I never see the tv go off.

pain meds melatonin and a 'night cap', pretty much shut things off for me

Just lay there thinking about life, how that day went, or the future

Drugs 🤷‍♂️ lol
Evening walks work best for me 👍. No tea after 7:30 either 😀
