The CDC just said fully vaccinated people don’t have to wear masks?

How will state mask mandates be enforced if they follow this new guidance? Will proof of vaccination be required?
Peapod · 61-69, F Best Comment
I just got my second vaccine and I too wonder how this will work with those that are choosing not to get vaccinated.

I am hoping there will come a time where the only time you may see some masks is during flu season because people may still want to use them.

@Wol62 I really do!

@Peapod Good for you and Thank You for caring enough about yourself and people you associate with to get the innoculation.

@Shannon27 Thank-you for your kind thoughts. I have always believed it wasn't just about me. I would never want to make someone else gravely ill because I had it and didn't know it because I was asymptomatic.

PS...I love your avatar!

Biden is a fucking idiot and the CDC is nothing but a bunch of buffoons
Flatten the curve, masks and no masks.
This has been a political shit show from the beginning

If it's really a vaccine then what do the vaccinated have to fear from the unvaxed?
EuphoricTurtle · 41-45, M
You have to add the rest.

If you’ve been fully vaccinated:

You can gather indoors with fully vaccinated people without wearing a mask or staying 6 feet apart.
You can gather indoors with unvaccinated people of any age from one other household (for example, visiting with relatives who all live together) without masks or staying 6 feet apart, unless any of those people or anyone they live with has an increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19.
You can gather or conduct activities outdoors without wearing a mask except in certain crowded settings and venues.

If you’ve been around someone who has COVID-19, you do not need to stay away from others or get tested unless you have symptoms.
However, if you live in a group setting (like a correctional or detention facility or group home) and are around someone who has COVID-19, you should still get tested, even if you don’t have symptoms.

For now, if you’ve been fully vaccinated:

You should still protect yourself and others in many situations by wearing a mask that fits snugly against the sides of your face and doesn’t have gaps
. Take this precaution whenever you are:
In indoor public settings
Gathering indoors with unvaccinated people (including children) from more than one other household
Visiting indoors with an unvaccinated person who is at increased risk of severe illness or death from COVID-19 or who lives with a person at increased risk
You should still avoid indoor large gatherings.

You will still need to follow guidance at your workplace.

Going by those people who got covid after they were fully vaccinated, that’s ridiculous.
Vegasfor30 · 61-69, M
@MellyMel22 you are absolutely correct
Everyone take you masks off and get on with your lives
Short of a forehead tattoo, I don't see 1) How it would be enforceable without an absurd drain on police, security and screeners and 2) How anyone would know whether the maskless person was safe to be around or not.

I also foresee more mask conflict between pro and con people.

I think this is a strategic error, aimed at encouraging vaccination.

@Mamapolo2016 I don't think there will much enforcing, nor should there be.

Vaccines been available in the US for anyone who wants them. Those who b*tch about it should have gotten vaccinated. Cant have it both ways. People are ready to move on with their lives.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
Good! I’m vaccinated....I’d like to get on with my life finally! 👍
Baremine · 70-79, C
Screw the CDC. Not vaccinated and don't need a damn mask
AbbySvenz · F
If your local mandate is still in place, or a business requires you to wear a mask, you wear a mask. How is this difficult?
Peaches · F
I don't think so because you can still get it.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
I never wore one anyway
This is ridiculous. What are the chances of people who took vaccine can't get covid??
Keeper · M
Minimal. Look at the data. @littlepuppywantanewlife
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
@littlepuppywantanewlife Bill Maher is fully vaccinated..he now has covid.

7 NY Yankees who are fully vaccinated now have covid.

The vaccines only prevent a severe case ...not contraction of the virus. But the issue is kids under 12 are not vaccinated at all. Kids 12--15 are just beginning.

Un-masking was premature.

The virus is still transmittable and there are far too many refusing to vaccinate. I suspect this will backfire.
@JaggedLittlePill This is true. It may backfire. Since people who won't wear mask can easily transmit covid. :/
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
At this point, those who have chosen not to vaccinate can self-infect themselves for their own enjoyment. Thoughts and prayers.

{@scottr] well that is positive in itself the long spell of mask wearing for some is finally ending . suppose you would need to have an intentity card with your vaccination details and ready to show if challenged for not wearing a mask
Keeper · M
Finally! Yes!

I’ve already burned mine!
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
I think this is very premature.

Considering kids 12-15 just started being vaccinated

Kids under 12 still cannot be.

Many people have never worn masks . We won't reach herd immunity. And many, many still refuse to be vaccinated.

There are new variants and with so many refusing vaccination the virus will continue to mutate and new variations will arise...at least this is how I understand it.

I just don't really grasp how they came to this decision.

@Stereoguy Where I got my moderna vaccinations they DID tell us not to laminate the card because if you need to get a booster at a later date it will need to be entered on the same card. I did make an extra copy of mine and put in my safe with my passport.

@Keepitsimple You can purchase plastic pouches at Office Depot that are made to put your COVID cards in. You can get a single one or you can get packages with different numbers of them.
