Agreed. The documents may have expired, but your birthdate never expires.

It's just another way to nickel and dime you, very apparent with age related things. It's not as if one's age can be revoked like one's legal ability to drive

While they may not be current, they are still accepted in a lot of cases and in any event they help build a case for identity. Utility bills and such in ones name are also used to establish identity. I guess it depends on who wants to know who you are and the level of proof they need to be convinced.

True. I was unable to get a valid state ID for my elderly aunt because her driver's license and her passport had expired. For the rest of her life, she was unable to write checks if ID was required.

Bureaucracy at it's finest

In the world of corporations and bureaucracies the only thing that is true is there a stamp signed and dated paperwork. An expired ID, does not exist
