if only 144,000 people will attain salvation

according to jehovah's witnesses, whyy would they dress in suits, subject themselves to the heat on bikes, and jeopardize their ownnn chances at salvation..going door to door? while i think it is silly, there is a part of me that has mad respect for ANYONE who can plaster a smile on their face in those conditions!! imagine believing something So Hard that you would brave the texas heat!!!

They have it wrong. God is not a big fan of bicyclists....

2 Corinthians 2:17 – For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God's word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.
@foldedunfolding Thanks for BA. It's mounted on a plaque on the mantelpiece. My Mum will be proud of me!

@foldedunfolding Some bicycle seats can cut off circulation around the pelvic area and therefore, I assume that blood flow to the brain could be similarly interrupted.

@Majorlatency I have studied the Bible for half a century and missed that reference. Great! I'll use it the next time somebody tries to get me to buy a bicycle.

When they would come visit, I would ask them in all seriousness what would happen if I was right on the bubble, maybe number 143,978, and then 30 more worthy people come along later. Do I get booted from salvation?

I guess they think their god is a CPA

bicycles are the mormons :)
oh and 144,000 go to heaven - the rest of the people that are considered worthy live on earth

and they do it because they take seriously jesus instructions to the disciples to go and make disciples.

yeah, they are dedicated - some are loonies like in any other group.

but they won't do a mass suicide or baptiize your dead anscestors

and they don't believe that Xenu and the Thetans are our ancestors

so there's that

@SW-User see i'd have to temper my response a lil on that. imagine if you truly believed in a hell, and that you could effect an outcome in someone's life, and you stayed silent? that would be the ultimate cruelty. i know it is annoying asf at times, but maybe they are attempting to be kind.

Don't stop with the JW's. All religions are batshit crazy.
