The most played one hit wonder of all time.

This one a very popular one-hit wonder back in the '80s... Toni Basil was a choreographer... she is now 80! So she was almost 40 when she did this... and apparently wore her high school cheerleader outfit for the video... so she must've been amazingly fit... undeniably catchy.

@Belleinboots That often gets played on the pub jukebox.

This song captivated me.
Could not get it out of my head for months. I was 17 when I first heard it.

@seaglass This came out when I was in high school.
seaglass · F
@bijouxbroussard It's a kind of other-worldly-sounding song... love to sing along

I loved this one when I first heard it in the mid 70s

These two both got to number one, and I don't think either of them had anything else in the top 40.

This was a hit in the UK in the winter of 1982/83. We never heard from 'Incantation' again...

@hunkalove Both courtesy of Joe Meek! Both bands had a few follow-up hits in the UK, but no more No. 1's.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
@supersnipe I think those were the only two hits in the U S and A. Brian Epstein offered The Beatles to Joe Meek but he turned them down.

Cars, by Gary Numan (1979)
MaryDreamilton · 46-50, F
@Belleinboots I've heard both "Cars" and "Are Friends Electric" on the pub jukebox loads of times. I was only 3 years old in 1979 so I don't really remember them when they were hits, but the pub jukebox is full of oldies.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@Belleinboots I'm from Canada and I first heard Cars long before I heard Are Friends Electric.
MaryDreamilton · 46-50, F
@Sidewinder I guessed they were from around the same era.
