"Black Summer" (2022)

I loved it when this video appeared…John Frusciante had returned to the band. 😊

Dont get me wrong, these guys are in my top 10, ..top 5 when Frusciante decides he wants to play. It's just the Gordon Lightfoot twist Kedis added on this one is a bit awkward for me..
@Jayciedubb Ah, I see. I’m familiar with GL but couldn’t see it there.

@bijouxbroussard I was speaking hyperbolically. Is that even a word? For the record, I think Anthony Kiedis has got the most beautiful voice in rock and roll. I'm so glad Rick Rubin convinced him to use it the way he's been using it since blood sugar Sex Magic. And his lyrics are amazing.

I wonder why they didn't keep Josh klinghoffer as a rhythm guitarist and let John Frusciante play lead. I know it's a different style for the band but even before he became their guitarist, Josh would backup frusante on tour so they could play those songs live that had too many guitar tracks on them in the studio.
@Jayciedubb I was recently thinking about how their sound has evolved. I saw them live in LA back when Hillel was with them.

@bijouxbroussard Yes, I believe he may have even taken lessons from Hillel. Weird history of another band called What Is This around the same time--used to play their songs on my college radio show.
@uncalled4 No, I understood he didn’t meet the band until after Hillel died. But John did say he was influenced by his playing style and strove to be a "flashier" version of him.

@bijouxbroussard I have to look that up then. Makes a good story.
