I loved it when this video appeared…John Frusciante had returned to the band. 😊

Dont get me wrong, these guys are in my top 10, ..top 5 when Frusciante decides he wants to play. It's just the Gordon Lightfoot twist Kedis added on this one is a bit awkward for me..
@Jayciedubb Sorry, I don’t understand.

@bijouxbroussard Gordon Lightfoot was a 70's folk singer who had a distinctive voice and cadence. Antony Kedis kinda sounds like him in this song. He kinda stretches his notes out a little bit like Billy Joe whatsizname in Green day. It doesnt sound bad, but i used to AK sounding more silky and rhythmic
@Jayciedubb Ah, I see. I’m familiar with GL but couldn’t see it there.

@bijouxbroussard I was speaking hyperbolically. Is that even a word? For the record, I think Anthony Kiedis has got the most beautiful voice in rock and roll. I'm so glad Rick Rubin convinced him to use it the way he's been using it since blood sugar Sex Magic. And his lyrics are amazing.

I wonder why they didn't keep Josh klinghoffer as a rhythm guitarist and let John Frusciante play lead. I know it's a different style for the band but even before he became their guitarist, Josh would backup frusante on tour so they could play those songs live that had too many guitar tracks on them in the studio.
@Jayciedubb I was recently thinking about how their sound has evolved. I saw them live in LA back when Hillel was with them.
